I just saw this on my timeline,
Retweeted by a major film critic!
I don’t think it helps that Derrickson has a very strange presence on Twitter himself. He is frequently fighting with randoms, film critics and apparently even some other directos (I just saw a screenshot of two other “popular” directors apparently making fun of a bizarre tweet by him the other day). He probably would be slightly more respected without his social media presence.

I have this Brianna blocked, I don't know why. I also unfollowed Scott Derrickson some time ago, I don't remember why, either.
People are really nasty on twitter.

Yep, social media kinda make people crazy and they end telling some very regrettable things! I also unfollowed Derrickson ages ago and I also don’t remember why but yeah, he sometimes gets involved in some stupid feuds that doesn’t helped him at all! I mean, no one would be praised when announcing they will do a remake of The Night of the Hunter but he especially also has by now a lot of enemies in the press just because his silly self-righteous attitude on social media. He, obviously, has right to his opinions but I can’t see how being rude about them on Twitter could help anyone or any cause.
No idea who is this Brianna, tho!

We just watched Night of the Hunter on Google TV and it was very, very good.
I think it could be effectively updated. The story is ripe with contemporary significance (especially in their day and age of Trump hawking bibles!!).
I did think the ending was a bit weak, so in the right hands that could be improved upon.
Shame Charles L. never directed again. We also watched some interviews with the principal actors and they had some very interesting comments about working with him as a director (all good and supportive).
I'd loooove to see BC in the Mitchum role!! He would be soooo deliciously EEEEEEVIL!

The movie wasn’t very well received at the time and it practically destroyed Laughton‘s career as filmmaker. It become a classic when critics began admiring it not necessarily because how he managed the plot (it was slightly over the top, too) but because the stunning visuals and the use of images to not just tell the story but also to evoke the feelings of it. That’s what’s unique and what it would be very difficult to emulate.

Yes, poor Laughton. He was so upset over its reception he never directed again. If he had been given some time and space to grow he would have been brilliant.
Amirite about BC in the preacher role? He’d be amazing! I can see these days they’d have Lillian Gish just shoot Robert Mitchum dead when he first shows up, haha. In slow motion with guts and blood flying all over.
(Of course, I think BC’d be amazing playing the Easter bunny, lol.)
