Scott Derrickson tweeted this list.
So that you don’t have to read the whole article, here’s #1:

This thread is hilarious. (Also, I was too lazy to look up the DSMOM thread.)

Woo hoo! This could be awesome! It might also be cringe, but with those two guys I’m thinking not. The original is an incredible movie. What do y’all think about BC in the Mitchum role?

Derrickson is good with visuals but he will compete with a film that it’s just too visually arresting and unique. It’s not an easy task!
Also I haven’t investigated it but the backlash should be brutal because he isn’t considered an auteur or a great filmmaker. Even Spike Lee is receiving a lot of flak because his next movie is a Kurosawa remake (he already did a remake of a cult Korean movie, Old Boy and was totally destroyed by critics and audiences)

This is my fear, too. I love the original, seen it at least 20 times. It’s just so visually powerful. Simple, intense, fable-like, houses bigger on the inside than the outside, the odd creatures in the fore frame on the river journey, etc. Really strong, and how can you go wrong with a no-nonsense Lillian Gish as the savior? I think Derrickson, as a devout Christian, will be drawn to exploring the hypocrisy/insanity of the Mitchum role.
