I still don't get it, either.

I don't know what's supposed to be funny really, except as a windup for the many who want to see the Blake's 7 series remade. There have been innumerable attempts to get it remade, but they never seem to actually make it through to production. Of course there has been a re-envisioned version of it in a way, in the form of "Firefly", which I still think is arguably the best series there's ever been. It's my favouite, certainly, but I can see why that that would be a hard act to follow re another re-envisaging of Blake's 7. Apart from anything else, another B'7 would now be attacked as a ripoff of that.
I did vaguely follow the last attempt to get B7 remade, which was a few years ago now, but haven't checked up on it for a long time. I do recall that BC and Tom Hardy were both at the top of the casting wish list for many, though, even while it was realised that neither were terribly feasible. Maybe whoever wrote the Spoof was prompted into it by having come across some forum of devotees who are still hanging on in there in hope.
And just for the record, although I haven't seen it for donkey's years (and I can imagine that it's probably aged quite badly), I used to really like it! Poor production values side, it was good. And it really wasn't like anything else. Didn't like the end, but had it been allowed to continue, that could have been got around, I suppose.

I think maybe the fact that there is a long running story about trying to get it remade may just be the joke., They’re winding up the fans who want the remake. I didn’t know there was talk of a remake so it went right over my head..

It's funny that people saw that picture of Benedict in flip-flops and wondered about it - just like we did! But then they created a whole ridiculous story to explain it. Again, just like we did!

Is it a parody article? I'm confused by the thread title.
If it's a real project, I'm having trouble picturing how Princess Bride would mesh with Dr. Who, Sherlock Holmes or Game of Thrones. Maybe more comedy elements?

No, the article is not a parody but I suspect the series is! What it's parodying? I don't know! They mention a lot of stuff! They do comedy, tho.

That's certainly purportedly real. And I doubt that it'll just be a parody, as such, even though they're very much known for comedy. It sounds like they're trying a different genre, although I'm sure it'll be intended to be funny too. It's described as a fantasy detective series, so I think that's probably what it is. As in a Sherlock type scenario set in a world that includes magic and witches and the like and where Sherlock is a warlock. Definitely looking to take advantage of the popularity of all things Sherlock and Conan Doyle. It has to be a bit of a parody, though, I suppose, just by dint of that name. Like "Sherlock Gnomes".
It'll probably be clearer as more info emerges. If it stars them, and is only half an hour long, then it'll be a parody. If it isn't a vehicle for them ng and it's longer, then it'll be an attempt at a fantasy drama. I doubt very much it'll have any connection to Doctor if it isn't a parody.
