I know they're having a bit of fun at his expense, but it's still hilarious!

I know they're having a bit of fun at his expense, but it's still hilarious! That was very funny! The hats! The cheekbones!! Hah,hah! BTW, I love how he played his role in Small Island. I finally got to see this one in complete because for a birthday gift my hubby got me the DVD of it! He was really quite good in that one. :-))

Very funny, I loved it. He was really good in the "Small Island", although I think something strange happened: he was so convincing that I ended up sympathizing with his character insted of feeling for his wife. The film itself is not great, but still interesting and I totally see why B. was given a Bafta nomination for it - even if just in this case I can forgive the jury for not actually awarding him.

I actually agreed with that! He was a racist pathetic guy but at the end I felt sorry for him. He was clearly a very damaged man meanwhile the "heroic" wife was so one dimensional that I couldn't care for her at all! She and her lover were so booooring! I liked Naomis Harris as the ambitious young lady who marries Oyelowo´s character. I remember I got in problems on the IMDB forums for saying it was just a stupid soap opera. Apparently it is mysogynistic to criticize soap operas!

I read the book - it is better than film IMO. The main problem with it was, I think, that they introduced this patronizing voice-over commentary. I do not like to be told what to think and how to understand what I am seeing. It was really annoying.
