That's great! So it looks like The Grinch (at $67.57 million) did pass Frozen's domestic opening weekend total for November (at $67.39 million). That places it in second place with only The Incredibles (at $70.4 million) ahead of it. Good for The Grinch!

I think I remember us having Remembrance Day off school when I was little, but it doesn’t happen anymore. And I’ve never heard of schools being closed on election days! Our schools are used as polling stations, but only the gym is used and it doesn’t interfere with anything happening in the school - other than gym probably being cancelled that day (or taken outdoors). In our recent municipal elections we had voting either online or by phone (through protected pin numbers for privacy and secure connections). I wonder if they will start moving in that direction province wide or even federally? It worked fairly well and especially if the elections were in the winter I can see the advantages of not having to go out to a school gym or a church basement.

I can't remember if I posted this already...but at least in the midwest, it suddenly turned cold and snowy over the weekend. Not snowy enough for driving to be hazardous, just enough to put everyone in a Christmassy mood. The stores and streets were packed with traffic. So that may have helped!

Not snowy enough for driving to be hazardous, just enough to put everyone in a Christmassy mood. The stores and streets were packed with traffic. So that may have helped! For years I used to volunteer at a church Christmas bazaar that took place around this time in November. My first year there, I mentioned that the weather forecast was snow for that weekend, and that the snow might keep people at home. The organizer of the bazaar said no, we WANT snow! And she was right! We had the biggest crowds when it was either snowing or there was some snow on the ground because it put people in a Christmas mood. We had our worst turnouts on sunny or rainy days.
