Wow if they delayed a movie just because that! Imagine the crew and cast having to wait (not taking another job) waiting for his diet to work! Maybe it wasn’t too many days considering Cooke was/is busy with the early shows of Follies.

I think there’s an interview where Benedict talked about having to lose weight for his part in Third Star. He needed to look sick, so he thought exercising would help. But he said that it actually made him heavier because he built up muscles. I remember he said he felt so bad for the guys who had to lift him in carry him in the movie!

I know he’s very disciplined about work but starting a diet just before Christmas is a big challenge. Maybe he sucumbed to the lure of the mince pies.

I am SO glad mince pies aren’t a big thing here in the states. They would be the death of me. I love mince pies. But, he prolly eats vegan mince pies, and I’m trying to figure out how you make a decent crust without butter.
Plus, isn’t there lots of stress eating right before a baby arrives?

I’m not a fan of mince pies. My Christmas nemesis is marzipan. I love it. I think Vegan pastry is ok. Had some once and it was quite tasty.

Ooo, marzipan is way too sweet for me. But I do love Xmas cookies! My bestie spent 3 days baking in December and brought me the *best* little tin of different kinds of cookies. Lemon bars, pineapple bars, pecan shortbreads, chocolate chip cookie bars. It was so yum! Thank god the hols are over, lol.

I love sweets! I’ll take sweet over savoury any time. I remember during the holidays one year that I had gone through an entire day eating only chocolate. At one point it occurred to me to eat something sensible, but who can eat a piece of chicken after eating an entire chocolate bunny?
I once visited a friend at her office and she opened her desk drawer to offer me a chocolate from a box she took out. She said “Isn’t it awful that I have an open box of chocolates in my desk?” But I said “I don’t know how anyone has a half-eaten box of chocolates! For me, the box is either still sealed or it’s empty. There are no leftovers.” Then she told me that it wasn’t her first box! Ha!
A co-worker once brought in cookies that she made with “holiday chocolate”. She said she took her children’s leftover chocolate from Halloween, Christmas and Easter, and froze it to make cookies at a later date. Again - who on earth has leftover chocolate??

I hear ya about leftover chocolate. It takes tremendous will not to eat all the chocolate chips in the house! I have a friend who buys Frangomints and stashes them around the house so when she’s putting the sheets away or something she’ll find a little unexpected treat for herself. I’m like, “how can you not know they’re there?” Hiding stuff from myself never works, lol. It just burns a hole in my brain knowing it’s there. 😂
