It's on Netflix.
I recommend it even if you are not a big fan of horror. Episode 6 is so good. It gets better from 1 to 6. I have still to watch the last 4. I hope it continues on the same level.
Very good acting. Some of the children are excellent.
The director also writes and edits.

I watched it! It's very good. Much more drama than terror. Actually a few of the terror bits are TBH cheap.
It's about the consequences of childhood trauma.
The episode 6 is technically wonderful. The narrative structure is also great: the first 5 episodes each dedicated to the point of view of the 5 siblings.
I really enjoyed it!

Now that you wrote about the 5 episodes about the 5 siblings, the episode I liked the most was Nellie's. The revelation of the bent neck lady was genius. I wasn't expecting it. I think that's really horror. Yes, the structure is great. Families are the ultimate horror experience. Or life.

I kind of guessed it beforehand but still was surprised/shocked in the beautiful and sad way they revealed it! Agreed that it was the best of the first 5 episodes. I think the twins were easily the most sympathetic siblings. In part because they were the most damaged by the past but also the two who had a better understanding of what happened (or at least the ones who easily accepted a supernatural explanation since kids)
It’s a very heartwarming series which it’s crazy because it’s a horror story!
Also I have seen a few fans of the book being angry because they changed the story too much! I have seen The Haunting (the 1963 version) and it’s great so why to risk to be compared with it and maybe the story of a group of strangers assembled in a haunted house by a mad scientist is a little cliched nowadays! The decision to make them siblings worked brilliantly because the ties between them are automatically stronger.

Well, I think episodes 5 and 6 were the best. I kind of hate the last one, full of explanations and innecesary preaching. Also I didn't like the part with the helpers.
Now they are talking about a sequel. Luckily, it won't be about the Crain. I didn't like Timothy Hutton.
Luke character which was one of the most compelling was just only a shadow in the last episodes.
I think I missed the tall man explanation.

The Tall Man was the husband of the crazy evil 20s ghost girl. His was the body they found behind the walls. I don't remember why he was so tall, tho.! I think he was traumatized because was short...or tall!
