I saw that tweet but Wednesday sounds too late! Maybe it would not have Thursday screenings!
Critics haven’t moaned about a late embargo as they did with Nutcracker, tho.! That’s good!
Jim Carrey was actually very good in that awful movie. Of course, he just did his usual over the top clown act but he kind of made watchable the horrendous film!
I prefer movies to be good that box office hits but I’m sure studios don’t agree! Especially for these kind of movies!

Another leaked review. This is from Malaysia and it is negative. He thought the plot is very simple and harmless because well, it's very faithful to the book. Nice words for BC's work BUT he wrote the review in verse! www.star2.com/entertainment/2018/11/07/grinch-2018-movie-review/EDITED: there aren't three nor four animated The Grinch films! Just one and the live action one! Or is he talking about the last three or four random non-Grinch themed animated films he watched? 5/10

I read three other reviews from Brazil and they aren't exactly very enthusiastic. They described it as a simple story for kids with great visuals but not too much plot. They think little kids will love it, tho.
I don't post them here because they don't talk about BC but about the voice actor in the Portuguese version.
Also it seems a few American critics will watch it until this night.

What kind of a plot are they expecting? A guy learns about the spirit of Christmas! It’s an animated kid’s movie! Sheesh!
They should be looking at is it cute? Is it funny? Will it sell merchandise?

Actually a few press types are watching the movie with their kids right now.
I think they compare Illumination movies with the allegedly more complex Disney films. That's why.
On the other hand, the social media reaction to the announcement of the adaptation (it's not a remake, people! It's a new adaptation!) clearly shows how immature are adults nowadays! And this is not a rant against Millennials. I think slightly older people of my age are very childish, too. It's insane the obsession with kid's stuff from superhero movies to old franchises. The most pathetic thing is of course to see adults "defending" awful films like Carrey's Grinch against new movies aimed to kids! In other words, they aren't doing the movie for you! You should have a more sophisticated taste in films by now!

That's a bit of a headscratcher isn't it! To me the "plot" of this is pretty well determined by the source material. So just how far from Seuss do they want this movie to go? I really don't think Disney movies are THAT deep either. Honestly, they are all basically homilies of sorts that can use humour, colourful animation and pull on your heartstrings. They aren't Ingmar Bergman for crying out loud!

That review written in verse was ridiculous! I read it earlier and wondered if the guy thought he was being clever.
I see nothing wrong with a simple plot! When Frozen came out, I didn’t see it until I bought the DVD. It was way, way too long, like a lot of these animated movies. I also watched it with two little girls (3 and 5 years old) who knew the entire movie by heart and often dressed up and acted out scenes from the movie when they played. I watched them as the movie was on, and I saw that the only time they actually looked at the screen was when Anna and Elsa were together and when there was a song. For every other scene, the girls turned away and played with their toys. I remember thinking that they were absolutely right - so much of Frozen was unnecessary!
I thought the same thing about Inside Out - way too long and repetitive, which took away from its good qualities. And then they rushed the ending which was actually more interesting than most of the movie.
I mention Frozen and Inside Out because they were huge successes and got rave reviews, but not really for young children. I’ll be happy if The Grinch is a simple, sweet, charming story that looks beautiful on a big screen.
