I went to see Green Book tonight. It was terrific! I can usually tell in the first 15 minutes whether or not I’m going to like a movie, and my test is rarely wrong. I knew in ten minutes that I would love Green Book. The movie has made me curious about this story and these people, so I will have to find out more!
It also wasn’t the most flattering portrayal of Italians, but it was pretty accurate, unfortunately. Ha!

The Green Book is a terrific movie I think. Both Viggo Mortensen and Marashela Ali are excellent. I’m a longtime fan of Viggo M and would love to see him win the Oscar. I think he deserves it for this movie. Plus in general he’s a great actor and very interesting person. Totally marches to the beat of his own drum and lives very much outside the Hollywood bubble.

I have to say I agree with critics about Green Book. Some parts are very cringy and reminded me of La La Land. The white guy teaching the black guy to be black and into black things. But mostly I found it boring.
Also Ali is clearly co-lead and he's running for supporting actor.
I wasn't excited either by A Star is Born. It was just ok-ish.Lady Gaga nothing special.
I'm not into this award season movies.
I liked Roma but not as much as I was expecting. I'm going to watch it again. It is still on a theatre here. They're showing Cold War too so perhaps I'll watch both.
The Favourite is still on theatres but I don't know if I'll rewatch it. Although it has some very good things, especially Rachel Weisz (Mark Gatiss is her husband on the movie), Emma Stone and Olivia Colman (in that order) I didn't liked it much.

I didn’t really understand the complaints about the story because it was based on real-life events. I watched it knowing that, so it was fascinating to me.
I’m baffled by that, too. I can only guess that they figured both actors had a better shot at winning if they were nominated in different categories.
