I was just checking the TV listings for tonight, and Doctor Strange is going to be on! I’m pretty sure that this is the first time. It looks like it’s only showing on a Canadian station, CTV. This is very nice Boxing Day treat!

The new Lego Super Heroes Netflix series has Dr. Strange in it. He is cute, but doesn't sound at all like BC!

Marvel must be gearing up a stronger role for Dr. Strange. He is in that LEGO special, a new animated series with the Hulk, and I finally saw a Dr. Strange action figure at Wal-Mart.

They showed Doctor Strange on tv several times last weekend, and I was able to watch it twice. I’ve watched it so many times now that I can recite many of the lines along with the actors! Ha!
As someone who doesn’t really like superhero movies, I was surprised to find myself thinking about how good it was. I was trying to imagine another actor in the role, and I couldn’t. We had to believe that he was a highly educated, brilliant doctor. But we also had to like him and care about what happened to him, even while he was being an arrogant jerk. Benedict was absolutely made for that role!

I’ve prolly said this before, but I liked that movie b/c it went about winning in a different way. A city wasn’t destroyed in the end, it was put back together. And Strange didn’t kill anyone (except that one Very Bad guy and he expressed regret for it). A nice inverting of most MCU precepts.
I’m still unclear about two things. 1) what was the point of folding matter and making all the buildings all turning inside out? Yes, it looked cool, but I’m confused as to the purpose of that, especially in the church after Mars summoned Big D. Was he just showing off? And, 2) when Strange is fighting Dormammu he says, “yes, but everyone on earth will live.” But everyone on earth is frozen in time while the battle w/ Dormammu rages. So what’s up with that? 🤔

You’re not actually looking for logic in a superhero movie?! Ha!
That was my understanding - Doctor Strange was going to occupy Dormammu forever in the time loop while time stopped on earth.
I have no idea about the rest - the buildings folding and the stuff in the church. But it did look cool!

It's never safe to go and look for logic in a superhero movie, but on the whole dr Strange was surprisingly "human" and believable. My daughter has seen Captain Marvel recently and said it was just a bit too easy, her having all the superpowers and being able to do virtually anything. Dr Strange, while very smart is not really a superhero, he has to learn and work hard and his victory is more a combination of the help he gets from his friends and his fast thinking rather than magical powers (lol, he does magic, but it's more like... craft?)

The Space channel here is showing a bunch of Marvel movies this weekend, including Doctor Strange - at midnight tonight and twice tomorrow. I guess I’ll be watching it three more times!

They’re showing Doctor Strange again tonight. I was trying to decide which Christmas show to watch - of course I choose Doctor Strange!
