The issue is that it seems all those deluded people seems to be a good number of their voters but the solution should never be to agreed with their crazy ideas! Remember when John McCain publicly scolded that woman, a Republican voter and someone sympathetic to him, because she was saying Obama didn't born in the USA?! Now, Republicans are voting to "censore" his wife for not voting for Trump!
I was intrigued by a profile of the woman who was killed by the police. She was a veteran that survived war but died in the Capitol... for Trump!!! She was also into QAnon stuff but apparently before following Trump, she was an ardent Obama fan! Her issues with the Democrats were blamed to Hilary Clinton but, according to her social media, she respected and defended Obama. That's one case, of course, but it makes me think how that country went from embracing someone like Obama to voting for Trump! Finding the answer of that should be the main issue. What went wrong and why?
In retrospect, the Republican party began its decadence with the inclusion of the Tea party. She now seems an intellectual in comparison to...well, most of the actual Republican leaders! But everything began with Sarah Palin! That was the first major mistake. They had "progressive" McCain and thought they needed someone attracting to the crazy extremists but the crazy extremists shouldn't be taken seriously in any situation. Now, they have a party full of crazy extremists!

Just seen some more pics of the rioters inside the Capitol. One of them was wearing a T Shirt with a skull and “Camp Auschwitz” emblazoned on it. These people are Nazi monsters and every politician that seeks to play down what happened or remains silent is every bit as culpable as those who invaded the Capitol.

Trying to figure out how and why someone descends into conspiracy theories is a complicated affair. There’s starting to be more articles about it, but I’m not sure we’ll ever really understand the psychology behind it. One thing’s for sure, the Internet ain’t helping. 😑

I saw a video of the woman who was shot, ranting into her phone while driving a car. She seemed extremely manic. I'm sure mental health is an issue for many of them.

I don’t know OBS. I’m not sure mental health problems explain the bigotry and fascist like beliefs of these people. I think it’s more to do with them feeling somehow disadvantaged and angry at their lot in life and looking for someone to blame. Trump’s lies and far right rhetoric gave them a target and a purpose and whipped them into the frenzy we saw on 6 January.
It’s all so chillingly similar to what happened in Germany in the 1930s. However the one good thing is that the majority of the American people showed in the election that they do not support that far right ideology. So we can but hope things will settle down in time.

I think “indulging” in consp theories changes your brain chemistry. You need additional “hits” of even stronger theories to feed that pleasure center (which definitely includes righteous anger) in the amygdala (not a seat of rationality), so they plough deeper & deeper. It works like an addiction. And the people feeding these theories are just in it for the money via advertisers & merchandise. It’s a sick circle.
