Well today I booked a new travel adventure! A three week trip to northern India and Nepal. We leave November the 7th and get back home November 27th.
The trip is split pretty evenly between the two countries and as a bonus we have a 10 1\2 hour layover in Hong Kong and the sister of our very best friend lives there so we might be able to have a visit with her then!! (We are good friends with the sister).
We are going a couple of days early to New Delhi to get acclimatised and then the tour starts. It is a very small group with no more than 10 people max and run by the same people who we used to go to Japan.
The don't do scheduled events - a facilitator is there to get you to each city smoothly and set you up in your hotel and then after orienting you to the locale you are on your own to set your own pace . They do offer some major things, like we will be doing a tour of the Taj Mahal of course, but most of the day you are the person who picks and chooses what you want to do.
I looked up some of the accommodations and it varies widely from spending the night in a remote Indian village in a place with little to no electricity, to being in a Buddhist monastery in the Himalayas. There are some really interesting places in Nepal - one stop for 2 days is in a rainforest jungle and another is on a mountainside that is only accessible by a 30 minute walk.
Included in the trip during the Nepalese part is a photography safari where hopefully we can see some tigers and Rhinos. We also have a river boat tour to view crocs, Nepalese alligators, monkeys and hundreds of birds!
Of course there are all sorts of temples and other architectural and cultural wonders to experience.
We are staying about three days total in Kathmandu as well!
I am soooooooo jazzed right now! I could just bust my buttons!
And just think we may also get to see our friend Vicki! I hope that does come about - she is a great gal and we haven't seen her in so long!
Anyway, I just had to share my travel news with you folks. And I will be doing another travel journal for this trip too.
😉
