If you ask me, he looks good!
This interview should be a big achievement for Gold Derby! Who other big busy Hollywood star heve they interviewed? Probably there are a few but I don't think too many! Maybe I'm wrong!

Thanks mllemass for opening this up proper. :-))
I think he looks great too! Very smiley and practically glowing with joy!
It must just tickle him pink that PM was so well received.

I wonder if we’re going to see him in more interviews in the next few weeks? The Emmy voting goes on August 13-27, but the videos for the voters are available August 6. This might be a great time for him to remind people to vote for him! (And his hair should be just the perfect length in time for the Emmys!)

It seems he want to fully participate this time in the campaign so maybe...
I’m a little tired of all those articles about how he can “steal” the award like the first time. It was a surprise then because they weren’t predicting him but he deserved it. Fargo and The Normal Heart (a mediocre movie about the RIGHT theme by a slightly overrated creator) were hyped and the performance were good and, why not, deserving but in any way overshadowed BC. It wasn’t a case of one of those actors who win every year and you don’t know why the hell still winning. I would dare to say that the last season of Sherlock is pretty weak but the performance is even better than years before, especially in te episode with Toby Jones for which he was again deservedly nominated last year.
This year they’re predicting Criss since day one but it doesn’t mean he is really the front runner. I’m not saying he is not, by the way. I’m saying he and they have had more time promoting him. That’s in his favor. BC is a late addition to the run and probably (another factor) a lot of them haven’t seen the series but if he wins he will deserve it (and if Criss win, too. It would be cool, tho. that they accept Ryan Murphy is a better campaigner than director or that the series wasn’t actually acclaimed at the time but they won’t! They are part of te hype)
Having said that, the guy who do the interviews is fantastic so I can’t wait!

Sgev, it’s all hype at this point anyway. They have to write articles and conjecture, and they have to make them seem as dramatic as possible. They have no idea who will win. Bless you for posting, tho.
Can you tell I’m over this awards stuff? Naturally, I hope Ben wins, I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t, because that was some INCREDIBLE acting, but I do wish these critics and Hollywood types would stop all their lists and comparisons. It’s not like it’s world peace or anything.
Sorry, seem to be a bit cranky today. I’ll go take my happy drugs. 😬

The award is not that important! I know! It's also pure click-baiting. I'm sure, tho. that if he wins, the forums posters will be hysterical!
The writers aren't that bad but their articles become boring when they repeat the same for 100th time! And of course, they are very part of the system! I mean it's a blog about awards!

I agree. And awards pundits seem to think he is either this constantly-awarded, obvious choice, or else he is this unexpected outsider choice that stole it from more likely candidates.

TBF all awards runs are silly. It’s not related to this but, for example, I hated Twin Peaks fans implying that Patrick Melrose was a just an award baity series (a la American Horror/Crime franchise, I guess! But very few questioned them. Why?) then admitting they haven’t watched it but still. For starters why David Lynch fans are so interested in dumb awards? He is way above them! But maybe it’s just people who think it’s cool to be offended in his name! I guess they can feel “intellectual” in their taste even when it’s dumb to think awards are relevant beyond some publicity. Twin Peaks didn’t need that extra publicity (because it has a mythical director) but Patrick Melrose did. Oh, well! Twin Peak creator called Patrick Melrose a “masterwork” so we win! His tweet and James L. Brooks’ about BC’s performance are better than the Emmys but we NEED a Blu-Ray release so pathetically C’mon! 😉
These articles are just click-baity stuff but they are not just repetitive and contradictory (if he wins it would be really a surprise considering they had wrote multiple articles about how it’s posible he could win?) but are posted on a site in which the posters in their forum are nefarious against BC and his fans. Amateur award pundits that still angry that BC and Sherlock won over their predicted mediocre Ryan Murphy poduction in 2014* and resented he next was Weinstein’s “horse” in the film run. And that’s the thing, if he wins, we will probably see more tiring articles about how he “pulled off two surprises” wins even when they are kind of predicting with those articles.
*I’m remembering how that movie had a similar trajectory than his Versace thing. The critical reception wasn’t actually great. I remember to have read a few reviews (of both) and they didn’t seemed very excited about them. They were like “this is an important theme so it’s very sad that it isn’t better” but at the award times, the mood was “this MUST to win!!!” I would say it’s weird but I suspect that as the Deadline guys said Ryan Murphy is very good with self-promotion
It sounds like I hate him but not! I actually think his productions are very entertaining, accessible and enjoyable but they are also melodramatic, superficial and full of clichés. They are also kind of forgettable. His series about OJ Simpson was great, tho. It was more content than his other stuff and the writing was superior.
