I agree. And awards pundits seem to think he is either this constantly-awarded, obvious choice, or else he is this unexpected outsider choice that stole it from more likely candidates. The most ironic thing about it is that his Sherlock is actually iconic. That’s not the case with the characters played by his rivals! (and again, they were great but so BC) Can you imagine the “I can’t believe he never won an Emmy for it?” if he hadn’t! You know, like te BAFTAS. It is just a very minuscule number of people the ones who think it’s a surprise he has an Emmy!

I agree. And awards pundits seem to think he is either this constantly-awarded, obvious choice, or else he is this unexpected outsider choice that stole it from more likely candidates. There is a new podcast from Indiwire discussing the Emmys. Anne Thompson asks all the time about PM's chances, Michael Schneider denies any possibility. He's still saying that nobody watched it and that if BC wins is because of star power. It makes me wonder if MS watched all the episodes of PM.

It’s not an easy watch and TBH award pundits and Hollywood award voters are very frivolous so of course, it’s a big possibility they all will ignore it. The frustrating thing is the ignorance of suggesting that Patrick Melrose is just an award baity thing or that BC’s merits are only related his star power. Especially when series they are champion are in big part just shallow hype.
Seriously, it’s a shame that wonderful, daring and very cinematic series like didn’t received the kind of attention series/TV movies by film auteurs like David Lynch, Jane Campion or Bong Joon-ho did in film festivals or publications. I seriously think it’s in that level. Of course, Edward Berger isn’t a familiar name and it’s considered mainly a star vehicle by ignorant journalists but anyone who actually watched it and understand it knows it’s much more. I really would had liked if they would included it in the Tribeca festival line-up but they didn’t. Probably it wasn’t finished yet considering they were still working in the last episodes when airing the earlier ones. So now we have be content with conventional mainstream awards and the awful award pundits in hope that more people watch it and it receives some of the recognition it deserves.
I just want my Blu-Ray! I checked and Billions 3, which finished around the time Patrick Melrose began, it is announced for a September release but just in DVD!
EDITED: I just saw a tweet claiming Ryan Murphy series just won with the TV “critics” of TCA over Patrick Melrose, Twin Peaks and Howard’s End! Awards are just opinions so no one is an underserving winner but that’s the level of their opinion!

So that’s the reason it still hasn’t been released on DVD - they have plans to bring it to other parts of the world first.
