When I first moved into our current house, we had the phone, cable and internet installed all on the same day. We struggled with our internet from the start - I remember it clearly because we moved in new year’s Eve, and the repair man came the following Christmas, a year later. So we spent a year with so-so internet. They blamed it on lots of things that were their decision: the location of the modem or router (or whatever it is), the brand of modem/router, the type of telephone line we have. Eventually, they discovered that the problem was actually a few blocks away, where squirrels had built a nest in one of those boxes high up on a telephone pole.
It was infuriating that they spent more than a year blaming us instead of actually looking for the problem and fixing it. The service is still not 100% reliable, but I suppose it’s the beat we’re going to get.

I finally watched it! I have to say that I much preferred JJ Abrams than Kevin Feige! Abrams was personal, funny and lovely in his speech meanwhile Feige was just promoting Marvel and the next Doctor Strange movie! It seems to me he only watches Marvel movies! The best part was when he moaned that BC makes them work too much to adapt themselves to his schedule! (Hopefully, it won’t change!)
Apart of the highlights in the bits posted here, I loved him revealing his wife advice: “remember that you aren’t a comedian!” I genuinely laughed aloud! And him saying that he had to mention “Rob Rinder” because he wouldn’t forgive him if he didn’t and then described him as “a friend of Judge Judy” Lol
Also he was super nervous and sincerely uncomfortable with all the praise, doesn’t?

The friend that died of COVID is Patrick Monroe, the director of Little Favour, which I think it was a very good short film. The guy had a lot of potential as director and it’s such a shame.

completely off topic but I’m still angry, lol.
When I bought my new mobile home 20 years ago it was literally 1/2 mile away from my old house in the same park (brand new and twice the size), and I could not get the phone company to switch. I’d make an appointment, go wait at the new house, they’d go to the old house and then leave, saying I wasn’t there. I’d have to drive down to the gas station to use the pay phone, explain to them that I’m not at the old address, I’m at the new address. I’d make another appointment for a few days later and then they’d do that whole thing again. This went on for six weeks! Once the person making the appointment asked me why I’d moved such a short distance away, like it was my fault I’d bought a new house in the same park and they couldn’t comprehend doing that!
One time I actually got a guy to show up and he took one look at my house (which was still getting the outside set up and didn’t have skirting yet, and said “I’m not crawling under your house.” I’m like “this is your job! That’s where the phone hookup is, under the house with the other connections!” Of course I’d already explained this 5 dozen times to the people on the pay phone. He got in his truck and left! Anyway, it took in total almost 2 full months to get my phone transferred to my new house. I just about exploded each time because it was so infuriating and ridiculous. My opinion of service providers has not changed over the years. 😑

Off topic, again:
I have one more irritating story to share! Before physically moving into our new house, we booked a carpet-cleaning company to clean all the wall-to-wall carpeting. They were due to come on a Thursday, and the movers were moving in all our furniture the following day. The carpet cleaners said to call them first thing that morning to get the time they’d be coming, so that I could be there to let them in.
When I called them at 8 am that day, the man I spoke to said that they no longer had us scheduled. Huh? He said that someone had called and cancelled our appointment, and the truck had already gone out for the day and there was no way to contact it. I hung up the phone and was about to explode when the phone rang. It was that man calling back to tell me that their carpet cleaner just phoned from his first appointment, where he found out that the homeowners had cancelled it. So someone in that office had written “cancelled” over our appointment by mistake. So we got our carpet cleaned as scheduled!
But a few weeks earlier, we had our phone, cable and internet hooked up all on the same day, as I mentioned earlier. They were from two different companies, and spent nearly the whole day there working. A few months later, in April, my sister called me at work to tell me that someone from the cable company came by and told her that we were stealing cable. He said that we had a cable hookup but we weren’t paying. He gave a threatening letter to pay up, or else. It was true that we hadn’t paid for it yet, but we had never received a bill. I wondered at first if maybe I had told them to put it on my credit card, but that wasn’t the case, and then then I just forgot about it. So now the cable company was accusing us of stealing from them. My sister called them and told them she didn’t appreciate being called a thief, and why didn’t they send us a bill, and they should have a talk with the workman who had spent a whole day here, climbing up and down the poles outside on a tall ladder, out in the snow. Apparently, after he finished here, he never submitted any paperwork back at the office.
So in May, we got our first cable bill. I was expecting it to be for six months of service (December to May), but it wasn’t! The bill said that because this was a brand new service, the first month was free! We didn’t have to pay anything until June, so we had six months of free cable because of their mistake!
So sometimes their screw-ups can work in our favour!
