Did Benedict thank Adam Ackland in his speech? I was listening for it and didn’t hear it. Maybe he included Adam in the list of people at work that he thanked?

Has anyone posted this? BC talking to a group of fans afterwards, being the big ol’ sweetheart that he is. 😍

I rematched the video of the ceremony today, and I remembered a little lie that Benedict told in his speech. He said that the first time he was there in Hollywood was to promote STID, so it was fitting that J.J. Abrams was there with him. But that wasn’t quite true! It was true that he had gone there to promote the movie, but it wasn’t his first time there.
Remember? He had gone on David Letterman, and they showed a clip of STID, and DL said he was really good (or something like that), and it was pretty amazing because DL never gave compliments. During that interview, Benedict told DL about the first time he’d gone to LA. I think it was for Starter for 10. He said he’d gone there with his girlfriend and drove around in his rented convertible.
I guess it makes sense to want to “forget” a story that involves your old girlfriend!

I interpreted it as the first time he worked in Hollywood. He was there for a long period living there meanwhile doing that film compared to when he promoted Starter for Ten and traveled with his girlfriend. Very random and I don’t know if it was truth but I remember a guy on Twitter who said a common friend asked him if he could meet with him because his actor friend didn’t knew anyone in Hollywood. He said it never happened but that if things had worked, he probably would be BC’s friend now! Considering he had to record his own casting test on his phone with the only help of Adam Auckland after he hurriedly asked him, I can imagine that he didn’t have an entourage of people taking care of him at the time and that he indeed probably arrived alone.
Maybe that’s why he remembered the people from that film with such fondness and why if felt as his time there.

I may be confused about the “little lie” but David Letterman filmed in New York City. So if someone claimed a first promotion trip appearance in Hollywood at an LA site months after appearing on Letterman, they wouldn’t be lying. All that being said, Benedict has lied or ‘misremembered’ more than once on press tours. About the “red thread of murder” on Sherlock’s great coat, plus several other details about other shows, appearances. I like to think that when he was younger he was so into the collaborative mode of character creation that he struggled to remember the source of good ideas.

What mllemass says is that Benedict told Letterman that the first time he'd gone to LA was for Starter for 10. That was in 2007. Here he's at the premiere with James McAvoy and "Alice Eve" according to getty. By the way, Alice Eve disappeared? She must do things I don't watch.
