I love that channel, they're always so funny! On another note, I will in fact be streaming the Oscars live because I enjoy watching it/guessing with my friends, though this year I've never looked forward to it less lol. Hope you all enjoy your days/nights ahead whatever you choose to do

I want Ben to win partly because I want his parents to get this highlight now, not in another couple of years. Is that a weird thought? lol It would be nice for his parents indeed. Do you think they are into awards? I mean, of course, who doesn’t want their loved ones to win awards? But I remember BC’s comments about Wanda reacting to his nominations in a very cold objective way. When he was nominated for Sherlock to the BAFTA for 3th or 4th time, he said on the red carpet that his mother told him he won’t win. That no one wins for the same TV show after losing the first two times. (how insane that both Freeman and Scott won but not BC! He is the freaking series and undoubtedly the actor who got the biggest career after it. It’s not different that DiCaprio being completely ignored by the Oscars for Titanic meanwhile his costars were nominated! He is the movie!) I think he also said something on the Oscars red carpet in 2015, his mother told him he won’t win. ER was the favorite!

It might not be that they aren't into awards, but that they don't like to see their kind, "wants everyone to love him, so he apologizes too much and never says no" son to be disappointed. This just might be her way of not setting him up to be too hopeful and also a reminder that these awards are just weird popularity contests that have nothing to do with his worth as a person. Yes, I am sure he knows that, but this whole thing has got to be stressful and anxiety inducing, no matter what the stars say they feel. I am kind of glad he is working and not able to attend much, actually, and that he is being really careful with potential covid exposure so that he can continue working on the movie he is currently filming (and, that he didn't bitch about it on social media). He really takes into account everyone working on a movie set, including those who do not get paid if they are sat at home waiting for the star to return and filming to restart. I won't be watching tonight. I might follow along here, but we shall see, since BP is going to be announced last and I am tired of being tired, so want to get some sleep. Besides, he isn't winning BA and I can't stand WS, so.....

I’m not sure I would watch. I guess it depends how I feel at the moment. The ceremony sounds so boring! I don’t know half of the presenters and this time BC wouldn’t be a presenter neither!
I surely would follow it on Twitter. Yes, I’m masochist! Lol

Yes, I am sure he knows that, but this whole thing has got to be stressful and anxiety inducing, no matter what the stars say they feel. Of course, it’s nerve wrecking but I think he is very mature about awards. The first time he went to an Oscar red carpet, he straightforwardly told the interviewer that he was there for work and that he was a British job actor so being there “wasn’t a dream at all” like other young actors were saying. And when TIG happened, he told a fan that he won’t NEVER campaign for the Oscar nor any award! He “confirmed” it on a Time Out interview but he added that he was working on something else at the same time and would be busy but that Weinstein was already calling him at midnight to scream him about it! Next: he was campaigning for the Oscar! Lol I think at certain point, he understood that it was publicity for the film and since then, he always says things like: “I’m here because the movie”, “I don’t care if I win or someone else wins, the important thing is that people watch the film”, etc. Even in his winning speech, I think for the London circle critics, he said he thanked them and didn’t wanted to sound ungrateful but awards weren’t his objective and for him the real award was the opportunity to be in the film. I know probably just a “discourse” but considering he was slightly reticent at the beginning, I tend to believe him. I also love this quote on The Guardian, www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/10/oscars-2015-governors-awards-jessica-chastain-benedict-cumberbatchLol! Isn’t it great?

I think the only Oscars ceremonies I watched for some time were the 2014 (I remember Lupita, Jared Leto and McConaughey and 12 years a slave winning picture but I wasn't much invested because I hadn't watched all the contenders) and 2015 (where BC was nominated and I had seen every picture, I liked Grand Budapest Hotel the most).

I don't remember -because I never followed MF's career- which was the movie/s for which he campaigned hard for nothing. I believe his intention was to not campaign but Weinstein "convinced" him, although at the end Weinstein did some interviews for him. Haha. I still don't understand why he accepted to do The Current War after his "discussions" with W. first for not sitting with the cast of August: Ossage County (why did he sit with 12 Years a Slave cast? lol) and TIG's experience.

I’ll be glued to the screen, ready to throw up, scream, throttle my cat, eat too much chocolate, and generally die. 😃👍🏼

Fassbender won critics awards for Shame and was widely predicted for the Oscar but was ignored. The films probably was too risqué for the Academy. He didn’t campaigned for 12 Years a Slave in supporting but was nominated and let everyone to know why! Lol He was again nominated for the Steve Jobs movie in the lead category after it.
I also don’t understand TCW situation probably it was some deal (after all Sunny March was involved) but I hated how the press, especially the British press, made that unfinished and failed movie that no one actually watched the definition of BC’s career, ignoring the more exciting TV work that he was doing at the same time (Hollow Crown, The Child in Time, Patrick Melrose and even the polemic Brexit). I hated the “he is so obsessed with winning the Oscar!” when it wasn’t true but also was feeding the conspiracy theorists that believed he feigned a marriage and a bunch of kids in an attempt to winning the award!
