Yes, I think I might mute "don't look up" and its hashtag for the time being, because my timeline is unbearable about it (though I follow a lot of critics/film writers so that's to be expected lol).

But even if it was actually good, there is something wicked in having your influential journalist friends scolding people that didn’t liked your work and accusing them of *check notes* causing global warning with…their reviews! I found very interesting the tweet asking whose fans are those people and then mentioning some huge stars names just to be answered that no, they are “fans” of the journalist and debuting scriptwriter! Contemporary journalism/activism is indeed in a shameful state! These tweets are hysterical. It seems he is hated by a lot of people. I don’t know him and I certainly don’t hate him. I’m agreed with him that global warming is a big issue but he really seems more a parody in a satirical film than someone who is genuinely worried by those issues. If you doesn’t like his film then you are part of the problem! Save the earth, watch my (bad reviewed) movie! Lol Now is McKay treating everyone who didn't like it as inhuman. I watched an hour and gave up. Nothing was funny.

Wow! I’m worried about “climate collapsing” andI think I won’t watch this movie because it’s made by cynics who want to use a real issue to make publicity for themselves! Also, I guess this is the “crowd pleaser” that award pundits were searching for. I could see the “if you don’t vote for us then you are in the wrong side of history and will cause the end of the world” strategy, at least, winning some votes!

It seems I’m not the only one that thought on it!
It was not about bios or the arty stuff, it was always about the “right” message! That was Weinstein strategy!
EDITED He deleted the second tweet but it was about Hollywood congratulating itself for “resolving” climate change!

Well, it seems it isn't something new for McKay to do.

I understand that it should be awful for an artist to read negative comments about their work but maybe the intelligent thing is to not read them at all! I sincerely believe those kind of reactions make more harm than good to their causes but at the same time, I think people like him doesn’t actually care too much for their causes. It’s all about self-righteousness

I just moved all the posts because this movie “deserves” it’s own thread!

I still think the movie was pretty good and well worth seeing. Not for "saving the world" but as entertainment with a social commentary point. Something to think about. Unfortunately now it's just become a punching bag for some and that's unfortunate IMO.
Whose fault is that? A combination as far as I am concerned. But it isn't all on just the creators of this movie for reacting poorly to criticism.
I guess I'm always going to side with the protectiveness of creatives - even with over protectiveness because of my personal situation. It's like someone is calling one of their children stupid or ugly. It's VERY hard for them to be objective. Even professionals can react wounded and lash out.
The movie wasn't perfect but it is well worth seeing and to me it holds merit. That's all that really counts in my book.
