I only watched the show because I like Peter Capaldi, but I found this season a bit sad because I really missed Clara. I thought they were wonderful together, so I kept thinking that he must miss her, too - which makes no sense, I know!
I doubt that I'll be watching the new Doctor, but I'm looking forward to whatever Peter Capaldi does next!

I didn't watch all episodes of season 10. I missed one or two. I watch the last two. I missed two episodes as well. I moved and was having internet trouble, and when I went to watch the episodes I had missed they were already gone from the website of the channel that airs Doctor Who here (it's the Finnish equivalent of BBC and they broadcast on Sunday mornings when an episode has aired in the UK Saturday evening, that's very nice.) So I'm definitely one of the "casuals" with this series as well. Although I did love everything I saw of S10, I adored Bill so much, probably because I hated Clara by the end and Bill was so different from her. Or I didn't hate Clara per se as a character, but the "most important person in the universe/Impossible Girl" storyarc. I mean wha ha happened to simple wanderlust? I love companions who are traveling with The Doctor because they want to explore the universe and see things they never imagined, not a woman who only existed in the first place because the universe created her to "save to Doctor" or whatever. Ugh, really didn't like that, I'm over the "convoluted = serious = good" line of thinking Moffat operates on, as well as the female companions being plot devices rather than characters (Bill is a character, Clara and Amy were plot elements imho.) I hope Chibnall can focus on the adventure part of the show. I don't know what happened with the double-quote.

13th Doctor! A woman! Reading tweets from men saying they are not going to see it again make me like this choice. I only hope they don't make her fall in love with her companion and I hope her companion is not an older man as if she needed a mentor. youtu.be/q1IczjLYCIM

I always used to say I don't care for a female Doctor because I know they will mess it up somehow or make it too political. But now that Chibnall is the new head-writer I think he'll do wonderfully and I'm actually super excited about having a female Doctor! I was saying yesterday that I'd watch an episode of Black Mirror, and I just happened to pick 'The Entire History of You' that had Jodie Whittaker! A nice coincidence, I'm thrilled that they cast her.

I was so proud of myself for recognizing the new Doctor from Broadchurch! I might actually continue watching Doctor Who, even though I'm sorry to see Peter Capaldi go.

I went to see Doctor Who - Twice Upon a Time today. I bought the ticket months ago, not knowing that they would be showing it on TV on Christmas Day! But it was a nice way to spend a freezing cold afternoon. I think they show the Doctor Who Christmas episodes at the movie theatre every year, but this is my first time going. There was a little featurette beforehand about the background of the Doctor Who series, and afterwards they showed a behind-the-scenes video about making the episode.
I thought it was a wonderful episode and such a nice way to end Peter Capaldi's time on the show. The audience today cheered and clapped at the end when they showed the new Doctor.
And as an added bonus, they showed an ad for the National Theatre Live before it started, so we saw clips of Benedict in Hamlet and in Frankenstein.

I thought the episode was wonderful! I loved Mark Gatiss playing an intentionally likable role (instead of antagonisty). I'm on mobile and I can't remember the spoiler code, but loved that thing about his character near the end of the episode.
Loved all the nods to Classic Who, though the meta on the sexist stuff was a bit much at times lol. But the "709 episodes ago" thing was brilliant, good on Polly and Ben for making an appearance since so many of their stories are lost.
Capaldi's send-off was wonderful. I teared up. But I'm so excited for Whittaker! Funny how Moffat ended this episode much in the same way he started his first one in 2010. I don't want to wait until next fall!

My OH and I watched Broadchurch - 1st and 2nd series. One day I pointed at an actress and said "I cannot abide her!" It was Jodie Whittaker. A few things I've seen her and didn't like her then either. Being one of those who (excuse the pun) refuse to recognise a female Doctor, giving her the part was an extra insult. This is not just my opinion, but may be on this forum.

I didn't like much Jodie in Broachurch either. I have no problem with a female Doctor and I think that she's ok in Doctor Who but the scripts are awful and I stopped watching it.
