It's cliched but I'm sure BC was sincere in that quote. I mean, Robert De Niro, John Turturro and Geoffrey Rush are all mythological actors! A lot of big names indeed. And both Riz Ahmed and Ewan McGregor are BC co-stars so he is competing with friends again.

Change of plans (because we couldn't get the Nicole Kidman movie) and we decided to catch up and watch the third season of Fargo since EMcG was nominated for an Emmy. The first episode was excellent (picking up on the same quirkiness that the other two seasons exhibited) and I have to admit i have a soft spot for Ewan when he flashes his smile. The episode was low to start off and it took its time getting the plot to take off but by the end it got me so involved that now we have to just binge through it.
I also plan on watching the rest of the Best Actors in their respective works who are competing with BC just to see how they fare against his wonderful performance in TLD.
Glad to see BC was his usual gracious self about his nomination. He is always the perfect gentleman when it comes to this sort of thing and I think it is genuine.

Riz Ahmed might be the front-runner in this category. His performance was considered a real star-making turn in this country. He and John Turturro could split the vote, though.
I don't really understand or like The Emmys and rarely watch them. Sometimes I think the voters don't even watch most of the shows they're voting on and just vote for friends, co-workers, or people who have won before. In fairness, how could they possibly watch most of the eligible shows? Even if it was their full time job it would be challenging, if not impossible. There are always bizarre omissions.

I don't speak English but I think the negative words are more toward "the subpar HBO entries". I think they are kind of neutral about the rest. I personally would agreed that Sherlock entire season was a "mess" (understanding "mess" as something confusing or a mix-up) but that particular episode was actually excellent with one of the best BC's performances as Sherlock. Also the episode of Black Mirror was very good (the only one in the entire series with a happy ending) and universally acclaimed by critics. I don't know about the Dolly Parton special! I think Black Mirror will win but if not and that critic is right about HBO series then it could be Sherlock...or Dolly Parton!!!

Honestly, I've never even heard of The Black Mirror.

It's a extremely dark British sci-fi series. I think they did a first series and then Netflix bought it and did the second one. I watched it there. It's an anthology so each episode it's a stand alone story about things going terrible wrong with technology, social media, politics, etc. in the future. The only "nice" episode is the one nominated: it's about a couple of lesbians who for different reasons couldn't live their lives like they wanted having a second opportunity thanks to technology.
There are a lot of famous British actors in it. Some of them BC's co-stars actually: Rupert Everett, Benedict Wong, Kelly Macdonald, Rory Kinner, the kid who played teenage Alan Turing, etc.
EDITED: I checked and they are actually three seasons! I think I watched all the episodes but I thought they were just 2 seasons. Also they are working in a new season and Robert Downey Jr. actually bought the rights of one episode he wants to make into a movie!

It's a Twilight Zone-type of anthology on Netflix. I only saw the disturbing first episode, and that was enough for me!
I still think that every Sherlock episode is a work of art! Even at its worst (if there is a worst), it's so much better than anything else

It's a Twilight Zone-type of anthology on Netflix. I only saw the disturbing first episode, and that was enough for me! Believe me they get worse! Not in the quality but in the disturbing themes. Ironically the nominated episode, San Junipero is very different to the rest. It's more about nostalgia, a man fabricated but very satisfied after-life and second opportunities. It really seems from another completely different series. EDITED: Awww. The first one is the one with the pig?! Mmmmm.... still, they get worse! I think the one with Alex Lewther is the most difficult to watch.
