I had my sister order the Multiverse of Madness BluRay for me, and I only just opened it. Inside, there’s a code to download the digital version of it. In case you ever have trouble redeeming the code, here’s what I did:
I followed the instructions - and it told me I can’t redeem the code from where I live. But it’s the Canadian version of the disc, so what’s the problem?? After going into all the “Help” topics, I found a list of digital providers, and Cineplex was there. So I went into Cineplex and found the movie for “sale or rent”, and there was a place to redeem the code if you’ve already purchased it. And it worked! Then it told me that it’s in my movie “library”. I had no idea I had a movie library! I searched every folder on my iPad and found the Apple TV app (which I didn’t know I had), and there it was! I also have The Courier, The Imitation Game, and Frozen. And I have the first episode of Sherlock and the first episode of How I Met Your Mother, which were free downloads from iTunes when I first bought my iPad years ago. It’s very nice of my iPad to organize these into a folder that I didn’t even know I had!

We watched DS2 tonight. Neither of us were impressed with it. I found it very silly and a very imbalanced movie (too many silly fight scenes that were highly repetitive). I blame the director.
I think this movie was a total waste of BC's talents. I appreciate that some people like these types of movies and I am not one of them.
As far as positive aspects - the movie was colorful and obviously a lot of work went into the special effects. There were a couple of scenes that weren't manic. I liked the "memory" scene with Strange and the young girl. I also liked the scene near the end with the two Wandas. Unfortunately scenes like that were very rare.
I am puzzled by all the whoop-da-la about the role of Wanda Witch. I didn't think she was in it too much. For me, as someone who isn't steeped in MCU lore, I actually appreciated all the story parts that showed what this villain was all about. I guess it could be argued that perhaps a different villain would have been better and that could very well be, but with the story line they chose, giving a thorough understanding of Wanda I think was essential.
And I found Dr Strange was still in the movie enough.
Dan was appalled with the movie. He liked one scene - the one where Strange split the bus.
One question for MCU aficionados - in the end Dr. Strange had a third eye in his forehead... does that hold special significance? Does that mean the "real" Strange is now dead? And all we have left is the third eye guy? Unfortunately I'm just lost about why they chose this option. Please help me understand.

RE the third eye. After I’d seen the movie, I found a couple of reviews and commentaries that mentioned it. Apparently that’s a thing Doctor Strange had in the comics and is associated with his ability to see through illusions and to see the truth of things. IIRC it’s related to Agamoto/the Eye of Agamoto (the powerful mystical being who created the thing he wears around his neck that used to hold the time stone) The ability to open a third eye is a new power he gained, perhaps due to using the Darkhold, or leveling up his powers by his actions this film. Though Sinister Strange also had a third eye, it’s not clear it’s related to the fact that he chose to become “sinister” Here’s on article that speculate about it screenrant.com/why-doctor-strange-has-a-3rd-eye/

If you watched WandaVision, it was all about Wanda and her 2 imaginary kids, so to have it gone over *again* in DS2 was overkill, for me. I would have much more liked to see a new Big Bad - Nightmare or Mordo or someone else. Anyone else, lol.

Thanks for the info, Hannah! The "third eye" really creeps me out! I don't think I could watch an entire movie knowing that thing could pop up at a moments notice! It's such a shame to take a face like BC's and make it sooooo unappealing!
I never watched the TV show about the Witch, so it seemed essential to the movie that aspect was explored to me. I wonder if there was a large enough faction of movie goers who were like me (not familiar with the TV tie-in)? I'd have to think it was a terrible plot to follow otherwise!
Thinking back on the movie, I have to say it probably is going to top my list as THE worst movie of his I've ever seen!
The best part for me (other than when it was all over) was thinking about all the money he made and how he could use that as a "cushion" to finance projects like Patrick Melrose or take on less lucrative jobs like TPOTD.
I am glad it had such a strong BO! That's important for his public exposure. And for future paychecks!

Lol for me The Fifth Estate remains his worst project, even if he was great in it. He always rises above the material, though, as he did with DS2, crafting 4 or 5 different Stranges and making them individual and complete. I have to admit I have a thing for Sinister Strange. The way he said, “Are you happy, Stephen?” just sent shivers up my spine. 😍

:: runs into thread wearing cheerleader outfit waving pompoms and those ribbons on a stick things ::
Any movie giving me Defender Burbank, er, Strange, yeah, Strange, in sexy tall boots, a lovely tunic skirt, and a ponytail is a-ok in my book. I mean, come on - Phil beard with tall boots and a skirt?
YEAH BABY YEAH <insert appropriate Austin Powers gif here>
The best thing about this movie is Defender Strange.
The second best thing is how awesome BC looks in all those boots. Sigh. Tall boots. <starry eyed gif here>
The third best thing is Xochitl and her behind the scenes cuteness with all the cast, especially BC.
The fourth best thing is Zombie Strange and his really special cloak.
The fifth best thing is Wong Supreme and the Wong Marvel Universe! Wong and Strange bicker and jest like an old married couple and I am here for it.
Is it a silly movie? It sure is!
Does it make sense? Nope! (But that isn't uncommon with Marvel, so this is a blessing and a curse, but it makes a good, mindless afternoon popcorn experience, if nothing else)
Does it kind of suck? If we think of "suck" as really just a subgenre of "campy horror" then it really does suck. There are tons and tons of horror movies like this that kind of suck and are kind of wonderful for the suckage at the same time.
Is it ok if others don't like it? Yep! Because there are some things that BC does that I don't care for (I know, gasp, but I really never needed to see him without eyebrows and snapping a whip, which is weird because you would think that would be my thing, but for some reason, it didn't work).
I am just glad we (1) now have Defender Strange and (2) so much variety (another reason I also love this group - all of you bring different insights into things you view, which is cool, even if you are not Defender Strange's #1 fan like me. <insert Highlander gif here>).
:: runs out of group leaving behind pompoms and secret sparklers for everyone to enjoy while hopefully laughing at me being silly about a comic book movie because that was the intent of this post, not to hurt or insult anyone - just to be funny and wild::

I forgot about All! That is DEFINITELY the worst role he’s ever taken, lol. I have no idea what he was trying to do there and I normally have no problem sussing him out. It was just a bunch of weird gazing at Ben Stiller. 😂🤣😂
I don’t like horror but I have to admit the Cloak of the Damned was pretty amazing and fabulous, even if I didn’t understand where those souls came from and why they came flying out of his eyeballs and terrorized Christine. Whatever. I guess it’s too easy to overthink these things when it’s just a bit of silly entertainment. I tend to be a bit of a nit picker.
