I love stories about BC proselytising. LOL!
Recently one of our oldest and dearest friends stayed at our home for a couple of days when we were in Iceland. We have a VERY complicated TV system (because we aren't on cable) and as a result they could get any TV shows to watch. But they were able to get the DVD player to operate so they watched those instead. Well, the ONLY DVDs they could find were Cumberbatch ones and they ended up watching Third Star and Wreckers and she said "Watching those two films of his gave me a whole new appreciation of this guy. I used to think that he was just Sherlock (she had watched that and kind of liked it but not in any big way) but now I realise that he is a much better actor than what I originally thought."
Now if I could just get her to watch Patrick Melrose!! I'm working on her... 😘

This sounds like a radio interview, but I’ve never heard it before. Is it new?

Gosh, you can really hear his lisp in this clip! Like he said it is pronounced if he is tired. He is very funny in this as well, with the funny falsetto voice! Thanks for posting this.

I saw Frankenstein again tonight, the version with JLM as the creature. It’s still so good! I’m a bit sad now that I probably won’t be seeing it again for a couple of years.

I saw Frankenstein again tonight, the version with JLM as the creature. It’s still so good! I’m a bit sad now that I probably won’t be seeing it again for a couple of years. I saw it as well. Dan went with me and he said it was good but he liked Cumberbatch as the Creature more and he liked him better as Victor too. I think I appreciate what JLM was trying to do as The Creature but I thought he was too soft and he lacked the tension that made BC's Creature so terrifying and yet so pitiful. One of the main things I tried to focus on was whether BC made Victor a more relatable character and I found that to be true especially in his final speech with The Creature. Also I truly loved the dynamic between the character of Elizabeth and Victor when BC was in the role. Overall I think BC just gave Victor a lot more depth to the character than when JLM was in that role. There also seemed to be changes in the dialogue between characters (I think someone mentioned this earlier). That was very interesting. I have only gone to a play twice in rapid succession once before, and that was the same play with the exact same actors in their respective roles one day apart. That was a really bizarre experience (which I did enjoy every bit as much as seeing Frankenstein twice - one week apart) but it gave me a opportunity to see just how different another performance can be from one day to the next in live theatre. This, of course, wasn't exactly the same but it was like it in a way that it had the feel of a highly unique experience. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to see this version of the play but if I had my druthers from now on and could only choose one version to see, from now on I would choose to see BC as the Creature. 😊

I didn’t notice changes in the dialogue, but rather how they spoke their lines differently, stressing different things. Benedict did much more of that - slowing down so that his words had more importance. When JLM said those same lines, you could hardly notice them.
I would choose to watch Benedict as the Creature if I had to choose only one, but that’s because it’s the bigger role. Both is best, though.
