This is just wonderful! I only wished that PM itself had been honoured as best programme. But I wiĺl settle for BC being the most unmissable actor for 2018!
😊😍😊

It wasn’t an easy series and it wasn’t widely watched. TBH I think this award was the one in which they had more chances to win. Just because they love BC! I don’t think they will get something in the even more frivolous (if that’s possible!) Golden Globes. And the Critic's Choice are now “owned” by EW. All the good decent critics quit. They completely ignored Twin Peaks last year so why would they even consider the new difficult Showtime series? I actually think BAFTA is a bigger possibility even when they are always very difficult to predict and that they have a very popular rival in A Very British Scandal. PM advantage is that it’s bleak and BAFTA loves bleak things. But who knows maybe they will award some unknown working class actor we aren’t talking about and just ignore Hugh Grant and BC because no ones love posh kids! 😉 I don’t think awards are very relevant so I don’t care too much that they lost. The thing that REALLY bothers me is seeing award pundits describing the series as something conventional or award baity. The Imitation Game was all that but Patrick Melrose is not. It’s the total opposite and clearly most of them didn’t bothered to watch the thing. That puts me off because I wanted those nominations gave them more publicity for something that was risky and original. I found the post but I think I was predicting no awards at all!!!! LOL

There was one comment to the Variety article - and I’m not even the one who wrote it!

By the way, how is John Legend nominated? I didn’t watch his performance but I did read the comments about his so-so acting.

The positive side is that BC was the fist ever actor to win that category when those awards weren't just new but also exciting and respected. They are practically considered a joke since the "exodus" of non-bloggers "critics" in 2016.
