No it doesn’t really matter. But neither should referring to it. Or did I miss the memo saying we must never make any remark about BC that isn’t 100% positive? No! I didn’t mean that at all! It wouldn’t surprise me if he was short tempered. He does have an infamous temper, and we’ve seen him scoff at journalists before. I particularly remember one interview (STiD, maybe?) Where someone asked him what question he should ask, and BC got pretty annoyed. “I have to do your job too?” That was...awkward, lol. All I meant was in this case, we can’t really know one way or another. We don’t have video to determine what transpired, or even if they spoke to each other at all.

Sgev, I don’t remember which interview. It was for Patrick Melrose, I’m pretty sure, and I seem to recall it was taped (I saw it with my own eyeballs). I could be wrong, too. I am frequently, lol. But he does have a habit of recycling his talking points. Was it with Claire Foy in the Variety talk? Ah, I dunno.

I can’t say I watched all the interviews (especially the videos for The Avengers movie. I posted a few here that I didn’t watched). I don’t think he mentioned it on the one with Foy, tho.
Anyway, it’s not just it but also the other quotes. I don’t remember that Trump joke, neither! I think the writer met with him. I don’t think it’s a “copy and past” kind of interview.

I think the journalist was with him though from his descriptions of BC. For example he writes about BC leaning forward and joining his hands when dealing with the family issue. I doubt the text would have been that detailed if the journalist was not with him during the interview. BC can be snotty at times. He can also be inconsistent. In lots of interviews he talks about his family then goes on to say he never talks about his family.😀. I think maybe he got snappy in this interview because talking about spending more time with his family may have slightly touched a nerve. After all he did say he was going to cut down on his workload to spend more time with the family but he seems to be working more than ever. I’m sure, like he says, they travel with him etc but maybe he was feeling a wee bit defensive. Yes I know that’s speculation but if everyone else is going to speculate about the possible subtext of the exchange then I might as well have my turn too. 😀

I’m going to put forward the upset tummy theory. Maybe he had a bad piece of kale, lol.
The other thing is, for all his fab vocabulary, sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what he means. He can be very...diaphanous on occasion, too. It’s his artistic temperament. Maybe he was trying to make a joke and it fell flat. Maybe Kit just threw up all over him. Maybe he didn’t like the interviewer. Maybe the air conditioning was broken and he was hot. Maybe he’s really an arsehole and has fooled everyone, lol.
I agree, Ellie, that he’s inconsistent. I’m sure it’s because he flies by the seat of his pants and wants to talk about his adorable kiddies, but then remembers that he shouldn’t or Sophie will kill him.
I’ve put waaaay too much thought into this now. 😂
Ps. I think Roverpup has left the building.

Is the interview posted anywhere in English?
EDIT: Okay, I found it.
I agree, especially if the interviewer really did lead with "in the past you have said you wanted to spend more time with your family." That makes it sound like the next line will be "but you're still as busy as ever. How do you achieve the balance you're talking about?"
In the past BC has mentioned that he knows he needs to make hay while the sun shines. His parents were both actors, and warned him that the money and work comes and goes. Unfortunately, the sun is shining through his little ones' childhoods. He loves his work too, but it can't be easy. He may feel a touch guilty when questioned about it. It's the same problem every working parent has, but times 1,000 when your work requires long hours, overlaps into your private time, and takes you all over the world. Not to mention, the bizarre occurrence of strangers documenting his every family moment on blogs, criticizing and reading bizarre conspiracy theories into the lack of them. Even a very self-assured person has to feel uneasy to be analyzed in this way.

Yes. It must be difficult. Less so for the next couple of years because the family can travel with him. But then Christopher will have to go to school so it won’t be so easy.
