I thought that interview was a few years ago, around Pengwings of Madagascar, when he first started wearing glasses. Heck, he could probably have the optician come to the house if he wanted, lol. Or maybe he’s gotten them. When was the last time we saw him in glasses?

It was the Thom Yorke interview for Interview: www.interviewmagazine.com/film/benedict-cumberbatch-november-2017-issueI guess he had a few free time after he finished Patrick Melrose. There were the pr for The Avengers and PM and I don’t doubt he was in the editor room for the series, the Letters Live events and maybe he did some work for The Grinch but even with all that I’m not sure it compares when he did The Hollow Crown-Sherlock-Hamlet-Dr. Strange-(more Sherlock?) almost non-stop! He is still doing a lot of work but there were a few pauses since then. I imagine he is dedicating that time to his family but at the same time he seems to love his work too much so I doubt he will do a very long pause (years) anytime soon. He seems to be even more London based than before so maybe that’s also a plus for him and his family. EDITED: By the way, Rory Kinner ended a Macbeth run last Saturday. The next day, the Brexit movie began its principal photography. Probably he wasn’t on set but still he went from one project to other. A few hour ago I saw an announcement about another play with him in early August! British actors work very hard. It’s more an American thing to very have long hiatus between projects.

It was only six months ago? 😳 Seems like two, three years. This is what life under Trump feels - agonizingly slow.

LOL! Anyway, we haven’t seen him with glasses since Comic-Con (?) or at least there weren’t public photos of him wearing them during recent events so I guess he has his contact lenses now.
I imagine it’s important for an actor to look perfect but I personally prefer glasses. I sometimes wear contact lenses but I’m more comfortable with glasses. Once I suffered of an episode of dry eyes and since then I can’t imagine wearing contact lenses all the time!

He was wearing glasses to watch The Current War at the TIFF premiere last year. When he and the rest of the cast left their seats to go backstage during the closing credits, I saw his unmistakeable silhouette removing his glasses as he walked passed me. (That's what some of the awful reviews referred to as the audience walking out before the Q&A, and even before the movie ended, because it was so bad. Ugh!)
Did we see him in glasses at any of the recent Letters Live events?

He doesn’t seem to be wearing his glasses recently so maybe he made it to the Optition.
I don’t wear glasses but find the thought of contacts a bit scary. I imagine that you’d be aware of them all the time but I expect you get used to it.

Nowadays they aren’t very uncomfortable so you can easily get it use to them but they aren’t so nice with dry eyes! It seems he doesn’t have a big prescription but when you have to wear them all the time like me then contacts are cool when you go to fancy parties or to the beach, etc.

I imagine that you’d be aware of them all the time but I expect you get used to it. I have worn glasses ever since I was about 7 years old and I did try contacts but my eyes are so dry I found them really uncomfortable (even the super soft ones). So I gladly went back to glasses. I think of my glasses as a fashion accessory (I have several pairs of different colours). Now that I am past 60 I also have a pair of reading glasses as well as my bifocals. I have cataracts developing as well so I have a pair of "over your glasses" pair of sunglasses that I have to wear every time I step out of doors. I have had some pretty bad experiences with contacts (one time I was in a middle of a movie and one of them just popped out and I couldn't get it to go back in my eye, so it had to drive back home with it in my mouth, with really distorted vision and get my glasses - I missed the whole ending of the movie!). Contacts, for me at least, was a huge bother. But I have friends who love them. It is an individual thing I guess. :-))

I started wearing glasses about 10 years ago, but apparently I needed them long before that! I only went to the eye doctor to get reading glasses, and got a big surprise when he showed me how I should have been seeing! He told me that he'd never had a patient with my eyesight wait so long to do something about it. I remember that he asked me whether I use my eyes for work, and I'm still not sure what job wouldn't require seeing!
My eyes aren't bad enough for glasses to be legally required for driving, so I don't actually have to wear them all the time. He prescribed glasses that I could wear for both reading and distance, so that I wouldn't have to put them on and take them off all day. When I returned for a checkup 3 years later, my close-up vision had declined a bit so he prescribed separate reading glasses. I hardly ever wear them though, because my regular glasses are usually ok. He told me I'm not a candidate for laser surgery because I'd still need reading glasses - as my friends who've had the surgery have found out.
I still feel it's important to let people know (not that anyone cares) that my vision problems aren't the aging thing that older folks get - when they have to hold a menu at a distance to see it clearly. If I hold something at a distance, it's just smaller. I'm sure the aging thing will happen, but I don't have it yet!
It took me a long time to get used to wearing glasses. I kept bumping into things because I wasn't using my peripheral vision, and only looking at what was within the frames of the lenses. But I don't mind them at all now! My health insurance pays for glasses, so I get new ones every chance I can and keep them all over the house.

I had Lasik done 7 years ago, but my distance vision now seems to be worsening a bit, so I think I need to get it tested again. I've also had to start using reading glasses.
