I just read a comment about how a lot of “rotten” movies are being succcesfuk successful recently but Disney’s Nutcracker wasn’t and I think that’s another reason why Rotten Tomatoes is so useless.
Fist, critics doesn’t necessarily influence box office. Maybe just when the movie is supposedly to be artistic. Maybe! But definitely not with blockbusters. But if we actually read Venon, Bohemian Rapsody and The Grinch reviews we would find that a lot of reviewers found them enjoyable (even the negative ones). Actually a few of the most mainstream media defended them. A lot of the BR criticism was also about the non politically correct content in the film. And I’m still amazed in Indiwire saying they hated everything in The Grinch (including the beautiful animation!!!) but ending the review saying it’s the best Illumination movie and it’s really touching! It was a weird review but to reduce all that ambiguity in a number? On the other hand, Nutcracker reviews were mostly about how boring and incongruous it was.

How do they have weekend box office totals when we’re only half-way though the weekend?
