I've been having laptop problems too. The stupid thing has just been going nuts and instead of doing one thing, per one click, will suddenly repeat the same thing thousands of times over until it suddenly decides to stop again. Weird!
But I did agree with that. And I must admit that I'm actually not desperately surprised that this script is getting condemned/attacked from all sides, irrespective of that seen being an early version. I was actually a bit amazed when the concept was announced in the first place. Common sense just seemed to shout at me that it's too soon. It's a subject that will need some objective distance before a dramatisation won't be seen by everyone in the light of their own preconceptions, so that it's bound to offend practically everyone in some respect, whatever it is. And the story is still developing! How can the dramatisation NOT be premature?
I thought the Carole Cadwalladr person's decision to not be involved on the grounds that all the facts aren't known yet (assuming true) was pretty sensible. (And I don't think her comment (as quoted above) was evident of her having something against BC at all (unless that presumption was re the tweeting Margaret person). She wasn't referring to him as the writer. It was more a wry acknowledgement of a perception that he's supposed to be able to do anything, which she was using as a humourous (unreal) explanation for her agreeing with someone who she'd never normally agree with).
BC referred to it as a great script at some point, and so it might be as just seen as a (disassociated) drama and/or a potential filmic product. But this is real life that's still in process! And the normally accepted artistic license, to effect, won't be forgivable as it might normally be. However much they've adapted it since that early version seen re the ongoing story (in a rush, because the other wasn't exactly from a long time ago), incongruent silliness is still going to be incongruent silliness, aside from that it can't help but still be out of date re evolving realities by the time of intended airing. In truth, I think people jumped on something they thought was a good idea in blithe optimism that the process would be smooth and that all the ends would be comfortably tied off (and most people reasonably happy) by the time we're supposed to officially leave the EU. But that's obviously not how it's panning out. And the film, which I think was conceived in idiocy, risks coming a cropper along with everything else. Will the film even get to be aired? Given that possibility of a court case (or cases), which should obviously be very material (if not critical) to the story being told anyway, it isn't at all unlikely that it will be deemed potentially prejudicial. And in that case there would be a court order to stop it, or at least to hold it over until after any such court cases.

First, thank goodness you were able to get most of your iPad problems sorted out - I commiserate with you totally in that reguard (my iPad "froze" when Dan and I were in Australia and I lost everything on it) so I know how frustrating tech problems can be! Luckily you were able to save the important things like BC's pix!!
Second, good for you for holding your own with that internet person! I think it is important to answer back against nonsense (even from someone who fancies herself an "authority") with some sort of pushback! You have every right to voice your opinion (having seen the actual movie) regardless of how many "followers" you have! Do you know if she had seen it at TIFF? Or was she just basing her opinion on a reading of a version of the script?? And I agree with you - how can you judge the totality of the worth of a film (one, no less, that was still in the process of being edited - which by any definition IS considered to be unfinished!) On what 15 "reviewers said on RT? Especially since one of those 10 reviewers who panned it was someone from "Lainey Gossip" FFS! Not exactly a fountain of film knowledge!
Even RT doesn't have the audacity to declare a definitive verdict on this film due to the fact that there is way too few reviews for any sort of consensus yet. So for "Ms. Film Expert" to declare that this film is a resounding critical failure is a tad premature I would think, right?
Anyway, I would like to thank you for defending yourself and stating another view to counterbalance her BS!
Bravo mllemass!
:-))

Mllemass, under settings on your iPad, check to see if you’re backing up to the cloud. When I had to get a new iPad, all I had to do was restore the last backup, which was done the day before. And, bingo, everything came back (including my photos of BC - the most important thing, lol). It might even backup automatically.

That was one of her tweets, there are more where she only mentions BC as if BC were the person responsible of the movie. Look Look inside for her answers. On the other hand she retweeted the writer's tweet (posted by sgev) about the stolen script.

It's a sensible position not wanting to participate in something that it's based in an ongoing event. I agreed. Good for her and her morality. It's not right to try to stop others of doing it, especially when she is suggesting very shady things and then in immediately saying that she is not actually saying what she just said in the first tweet.
BC is part of the project and he is the star but calling him instead of the guy she knew was the main force behind it is at least manipulative. Although TBF it wasn't her but the extremist alt-right guy she was agreeing with, the one who first mentioned him.
There are a few productions that were actually made meanwhile the event they were portraying wasn't yet finished: All the President's Men and The Great Dictator are the most obvious. But yes, it's a huge risk. A negative example is, of course, The Fifth Estate but still the movie didn't had any influence at all! It just disappeared. If the film is dumb they just could say how awful it's when the actual thing is finished and done but it seems people like her and Julian Assange just want to silence others! After that suggestion of dirty money (and her discreet retraction) and all her contradictions, I don't believe she is interested in facts anymore. She just want to stop them!. In her interchanges with Graham, she even kind of plead to him to not doing it meanwhile she praising him for being a great writer! So is him a gun for hire, a great writer or what?
I don't know who that movie type was, mllemass but theatre people immediately sided with Graham and I saw a few film people being scandalized when she wrote that about Tessa Ross company. They could fail but they are people with long and prestigious careers.

This reminds me when Trump posted that Mexican government controlled the NYT/American press because Carlos Slim was the main investor.

Yes, that’s what they did at the Apple store. When I said I didn’t know if my stuff was backed up, they checked and saw that the last time it backed up was the evening before. So like you said, they just restored my last backup. It must have been backing up automatically, because I certainly never did it! It had been acting funny for a couple of days, but I hoped it was nothing too serious. I know it sounds like someone who’s ill, but I felt lost when they told me nothing could be done! I bought in June 2012 and really thought I’d never use it. I bought the least amount of storage because it was cheaper and because I didn’t exactly know what “storage” was! My new one has double the storage (but still the cheapest choice!), so I’ll be able to put back all the apps I had to delete because I kept running out of space. My fondest iPad memory is six months after I got it, iTunes had a “twelve days of Christmas” thing where they gave you a free download every day for 12 days. Day 2 of it was the first episode of Sherlock! I actually delayed watching it because I knew it would kill me to only see one episode and not be able to see more. And I was right! It was so good that it was hard to believe it was made for tv. It was (and still is) so much better than most movies. Of course, being cynical, I thought that maybe the first episode is different (that does happen with tv shows) and they wouldn’t have put the same effort into the rest of the episodes. But I’m happy I was wrong! I learned an important lesson from those free downloads: don’t do it unless you’re absolutely sure! I didn’t think about them too much because they were free, but it turns out that I’m stuck with them forever! That Justin Timberlake album will always be there, no matter how many times I skip over those songs!

Yes, she had seen it at TIFF, so that made her an expert. I don’t remember them saying that they were “editing”, but maybe that’s what she got out of it when they said it wasn’t quite finished. I do remember thinking that I hope they keep in the scenes with his children, and that they might give more screen time to the scenes that got strong reactions out of the audience (gasps, laughter, tears).
I was so annoyed by her comment that editing can’t fix a “lousy script”. First, she’s wrong about the script. Second, she’s wrong about editing! Didn’t the director (or editor?) of Patrick Melrose say that Benedict had given them so many different takes of the same scenes that he could have edited them differently and come up with a completely different show each time?

I had to replace my iPad after 5-6 years, too. I think they make them that way so you have to keep buying them. They start acting wonky. Or you run into memory issues and have to upgrade. This time I bought the one with 128 nano-terraform bytes (or whatever they’re called, lol), to replace my 32 byte one. It’s GREAT having so much memory!
I also turn it off overnight 1-2 times a week so it has time to readjust, and I force quit out of my apps a couple times per day. Keeps it running smoothly.
