I’m thrilled for Ben’s nom but lord I hate award season, and I hate it that I get worked up over the possibility that he might win and then he doesn’t and I’m bummed. I try not to put any weight on it but I can’t help myself. I want him to have all the awards. He’s brilliant, and his performance in PM was simply astonishing. Here we go again... Me too!

I was sure he would win the Emmy, so I'm not going to get too optimistic. I just hope this increases the chances of a DVD!

A statement from Benedict: "Thrilled! Thanks to the HFPA. I couldn't be happier. An early Christmas pressie!! X"

Someone on twitter mentioned the video Benedict did with with Josh Horowitz, where he’s giving acting lessons. He shows them how to act to get a Golden Globe nomination. Ha!
I’ll re-post it here - it’s in Part 2, at the :20 mark.

Will Benedict go to the awards? He seems to be showing up to these kinds of events now that he’s also a producer. It’s funny that he acts like awards are nice but they aren’t that important. But in that recent Today Show interview, the interviewer mistakenly said that he was a Golden Globe winner, and Benedict quickly corrected him. He started saying something about the Hollywood Foreign Press, but then he trailed off. He knew exactly what the Golden Globes were, who voted for them, and that he had never won one. If Sophie is about due to deliver their third baby in early January then I would think that he might wish to be with her at that time, rather than attend an awards show. You are correct however, that being a producer would motivate attendance for networking opportunities... but the GG nom isn't for his company - it's a personal acting nom. Yes, considering they are having a baby I really doubt he will be there. Surely he also knows that he won't win so why to bother when there is a much more important reason to be home. I'm sure GG voters wouldn't like he (probably) won't be there. I understand they are very special beings who should be treated with a lot of love! So probably his future prospects would be affected! 😉

My local paper posted an article online (originally from USA Today) about the nomination “snubs”, and The Grinch was snubbed! It actually never occurred to me that it might be nominated.

He won’t win even though he should. I don’t know why he is so unlucky with winning awards but I suspect it’s partly because people just expect him to be excellent. They tend to give awards to people whose performance has surprised them by its quality. Not sure I’ve explained that very well but maybe you know what I mean.

My local paper posted an article online (originally from USA Today) about the nomination “snubs”, and The Grinch was snubbed! I actually never occurred to me that it might be nominated. That’s crazy! I don’t think it has an opportunity! Surely they don’t even mentioned Patrick Melrose which, again, is much better and was better received that a lot of the nominees! I saw a few reactions around the Kevin Hart thing with the Academy and I thought how all these award world is dying. According to THR no one wants to host the Oscars because it’s affecting them more than helping them then they find someone but award fans (that as someone said are mostly women and gay men) were angry because homophobic tweets and (worst) he hitting an ex-wife. He sounds like scum but at the same time, I imagine a lot of people would be even more fearful to accept the job! The GG always have been seen as fraudulent. That’s not the case of the Oscars, they are criticizing for being conventional and now it seems they actually want to do the right thing but who knows? Maybe they trying to answer criticism after the #OscarsTooWhite campaign (which wasn’t they fault but the Industry, by the way) and to more frivolous things, like when they wanted to add te popular film category is affecting them. I mean they were dying beforehand but all these “scandals” and they being open and positive about the reactions are actually accelerating the process! They are losing credibility not as judges of movies (which they never had) but as respected institution. It’s almost sad! EDITED: This is so crazy! Kevin Hart went from "that comedian guy" to "that awful homophobic man"! I don't know anything about him and I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the tag but why someone would want to risk their reputation like that! Anyone choose for the work will be morally scrutinized! And probably also the nominees!
