Kodi Smit-McPhee reminds me slightly of a young BC. If he isn't Peter, perhaps he is doing flashback scenes of Phil?

There is a few flaskbacks of Phil and George during their years as students at California University (I think!) and the difference of their behavior there: Phil is an excellent student and kind of "loved" by his contemporaries and the fraternities fight for him but he knows the interest on him by everyone is just because he is very rich so he kind of plan a "scene" to humiliate all of them that ends with him telling them how fake they are! His little brother who isn't that smart nor handsome goes there the next year trying to make friends but by then the Burbanks are feared so his only friend is his own brother who actually belittles him! He convinces him that he is dumb and should abandon his studies.
Another flashback show them receiving visits of rich pretty girls in the ranch when their mother tries to find them wives. Again Phil destroys nor just his chances but also his brother's.
I thought about it and that McKenzie is playing a young Rose but I really hope not. If they need flaskbacks then I prefer the old actors playing them. Probably they would look slightly ridiculous but continuity is more important! Also Netflix just produced a movie with 70 and 80 something actors playing 20, 30 and 40 something! C'mon!
Also if he is playing young Phil then who is playing Peter? That's the forth main character in the book!!!

Also I would have guessed that Rose's first husband is an important role (more if they show the flashbacks in the book!). The main plot is about Peter'revanging not just the way his mother is treated in the ranch but also his father's death! But it seems he isn't one of the main characters/actors.

He is probably playing Peter. Maybe they just haven't cast Peter's father yet? That was a very important part of the book!

If this photo recently posted on his official Instagram account is indeed recent then he is blonde right now. You know like Kirsten Dunst. http://instagram.com/p/B8P_iifHdx4 He wears blonde highlights (and a mustache) in another project for CBS.

This one was uploaded 10 hrs ago. His hair is very dark but OMG he looks like a child! I'm not sure if it's really new.

Maybe he is playing Peter and maybe he is supposed to look like Phil, because Phil starts seeing himself in Peter and connects with him, even as he’s plotting to destroy him.
I would prefer to see the same actors in flashbacks - unless they’re children, of course! And it wouldn’t be too difficult to do that in a movie set in the 1920’s. A change of wardrobe and hairstyle, special makeup tricks, and maybe filming in black and white, would make it look believable.
