It seems it was because her series! I still remember how I was worried that the Doctor Strange sequel would conflict with BC’s schedule because the rumors at the time suggested it was the case and then Campion was interviewed in Italy and she said Moss was the one that was in danger but BC “will surely be there”! He probably was already castrating animals in Montana so yep, he was a sure thing! Lol
He just had lost a few interesting roles with auteurs because not necessarily for schedule conflicts but different reasons (Del Toro, James Gray, David Lowery, Luca Guadagnino) but yeah, it was about time he had the opportunity to work with one! Wes Anderson is the next one!

Del Toro obviously adores BC and I’m sure they’ll work together in the future. Just have to find the right project.

About the Elisabeth Moss article, there are a few comments joking about she dodging a bullet and I was thinking how a lot of the negative comments on social media are and always were just trolls. The “it’s so boring to me so it’s bad” doesn’t make any sense anymore because even if you didn’t liked the film, you can’t negate it was very successful and a lost opportunity for those who couldn’t be in it! Dunst received her first Oscar nomination, Moss doesn’t have any! It’s not like Meg Ryan risking everything and unfairly lost it with another Campion’s project. The film was acclaimed and the actors almost immediately were hired by people like Alex Garland, Alfonso Cuarón and Wes Anderson (the hirings could be related or not to the film but Dunst came from a cancelled series before TPOTD premiere). I mean I’m not a big Gonzalez Inarritu fan but I can easily admit that working for an acclaimed film by him especially if it receives 12 Oscar nominations (even with my Oscar skepticism) is a big deal!
So my conclusion is that most if not all TPOTD haters are just trolls! At least those acting like it was a big fail!
EDITED, Damn! I really don’t liked CODA but it would be ridiculous to say the actors would be in a better situation if they haven’t done it! It’s undoubtedly good for their careers! That’s why people were happy for the deaf actors!

This article in THR is mostly about spoilers in the MCU, but they have a quote from Benedict about TPOTD, too.

Based on the BBC interview but I’m glad TPOTD is again on the mainstream press although the headline sounds kinda clickbaity,

I found fascinating how some idiots on Twitter are very sure about their stupid comments without checking if they are understanding things or know the whole context/situation (and always with the bad faith interpretation of words!)
Why Jane Campion thinks Netflix will be “loyal” to her (but laments that they maybe wouldn’t stand for others without “a Name”?) Because they are literally paying for her crazy project of a pop-up school! They won’t win anything or very little from it but they still are doing it because they clearly want to have a working relationship with her/enjoyed working with her!
Also, she is Jane freaking Campion!!! And her films are actually cheaper than other big names like Scorsese!
And about CODA, it’s a dumb movie! Anyone who have watched something more than easy Hollywood flicks and Hallmark stuff knows it! And anyone who knows the Academy history understand how awful the voters can be. Is it condescending? Yes! But it’s also true! CODA isn’t a challenging film AT ALL! And apparently some found TPOTD difficult! Why is so difficult to understand it and admit it? It isn’t even the first time an Academy film winner go down in infamy and that the film is been (very slightly) “shaded” by a much more important filmmaker that lost the award,
