I'm not sure it really does, though. Maybe it depends on the brand. I've got a relative who's a clinical pharmacist who said that while some things do degrade within a year, a lot of things are really much more stable, but manufacturers put the 'expiration' dates on them anyway.
For example, if you ever buy bottled water, you'll see it has an expiration date. Which, OK, maybe if it's in a plastic bottle and the plastic degrades it's a problem? But otherwise, the water will be just fine for a long long time. I think alcohol based products are the same way.
It is impacting us here a bit in the US, in Massachusetts. One company Biogen decided to go ahead with some company wide or leadership wide meeting a little over a week ago, and since then 70+ people who attended have tested positive. And schools, businesses have closed, or cancelled events. People are trying to stock up on basics, just in case they test positive and have to hang out at home (and hopefully not get 'sick' sick) so a lot of stores are out of some stuff... for example, you can't find shelf stable milk anywhere, and my local grocery store keeps running low on toilet paper of all things. Plus there's no hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, face masks. I have a box of face masks from .. well I don't even remember what... and I wonder, should I donate them to my local hospital?
It's not scary scary yet, but I can see some people changing their normal behavior. One of my sisters works at a college in Boston where some students tested positive after returning from trips to Italy. The students are supposedly self-quarantining, but now someone in her office has a spouse who also just came back, and my sister is wondering ... she thinks she's OK, but she also stays overnight with our elderly mother 2 nights a week... should she still keep doing that? (And I stay two other nights, but work every day with my sister's husband...so if my sister gets it... what does that mean for our mom's support system?)
I had taken the day off today, planning on a 'mental health' day, including a birding trip with our local Audubon group... but then this morning, I started wondering, is this really a good time to be trekking around in the back of a van with 15 random people? Instead, I wound up taking my car and just birding locally with a few friends... meeting them outdoors and walking the beach and trails.

If you decide to make your own, be sure to use 99% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. That will give you the proper agent & strength. Mix 2 parts alcohol with 1 part aloe Vera gel, stir well & bottle. 😃👍🏼

Apparently Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for Covid-19. They are in Australia at the moment, and will stay isolated for a while. They are the first celebrities I've heard of being diagnosed with it. Though not the last, probably.
I hope they recover OK.

My church has just cancelled services for March and April, and the university where my husband works has told students not to return from Spring Break, classes will be held online. They can't even come back to the dorms to get their stuff!

Well, I am in Italy, so you can imagine. The life in Rome was still almost normal until the last week, but now the whole country has closed down, literally. Last night they decided to close all the shops etc., they only left those essential for living (such as food, pharmacies etc.).

I just hope your new very restrictive measures prove to be worthwhile. Best wishes to yourself & your family. Hope you stay safe.

Schools, Universities, Museums. Galleries, State run Tourist attractions, childcare facilities all closed for two weeks by Government order starting this evening. Gatherings of more than 100 people banned. Gov say they may take further action if need be.

Thousands of lives are going to be saved by shutting things down now. People should stay home as much as possible. I hope everyone stays safe, friends. 🙏🏻

We now have a second confirmed case in my city. A 52-year-old man returned from NYC last week and got tested two days ago at the urgent care centre in my neighbourhood. Next week is March Break, so schools will be closed, and the province just announced that they will keep the schools closed for another two weeks after that, until April 3.

Meanwhile, in Colorado, our only drive-through testing facility (which is open from 10-2 three days a week) has closed because there’s too many people trying to get tested. 😬
And the first case just showed up in my city. People all over are now freaking out. Our federal government is useless.
