Very bizarre but the headline is also totally bonkers! Why someone would think on Stranger Things when hearing about Eric? lol I know the 1980s and the missed kid? But it seems so different apart of that very frivolous link.
Although remember that people are comparing it to other random things like Del Toro’s Pinocchio or that dark comedy about a policeman with an supposedly imaginary friend.

What I'm talking about is the very awkward phrasing.
Just look at the opening sentence -
"A new thriller starring Benedict Cumberbatch has been almost missed out by many fans... "
"has been almost missed out" - the syntax is just WRONG!
Here's another example -
"Introduced with an image that he’s not really prone to,"
"not really prone to" - those words don't belong together.
This whole article just sounds weird!

I saw this article about the most anticipated new Netflix series and they didn’t included Eric, www.whats-on-netflix.com/coming-soon/the-most-anticipated-new-netflix-series-coming-in-2024-beyond/But I think it’s a complot! *put my tinfoil hat* 😉 They say their source is IMDb Moviemeter but I checked there are Eric number is 1200. That would put it on number #3 in their silly list but it’s just no there! Now, I don’t know when they made their cut but Eric number is actually descending so it was in a best place a week ago. Anyway, the number of the other series isn’t the same of their list neither although their places are similar. Considering the actual numbers in IMDb right now, Eric wouldn’t be #3 but #5. Higher than the Jurassic Park cartoon! No bad considering that there’s not a trailer yet but yeah, that list doesn’t seem to be right. At least, I’m not seeing something! EDITED I wrongly wrote 4 instead of 5. I corrected it.

Here are the actual real numbers,
1. Dead Boy Detectives 115 2. Good Times 761 3. Bodkin 916 4. The Abandons 1138 5. Eric 1200 6. Jurassic World 1363 7 . Black Doves 2213 8. Army of the Dead 2328 9. Kaos 3363 10. Tomb Raider 3462 11. The Undertow 4719
Of course, maybe there is another series out there that also wasn’t included.
The numbers are very different but the places are practically the same. Just that they didn’t included Eric!
EDITED It seems the official “Moviemeter” is only accessible with a paid account but it’s a long list that doesn’t distinguish between series and movies so that would explain the big numbers in the article but Eric should still be there but it clearly is stronger that the other series and that doesn’t change with movies in the mix. Also it fall 618 places so last week it was #582.

Obviously I would love for it to do well and be highly anticipated but we’re getting new content so I’m okay with whatever happens.

TBH I don’t think IMDb rankings means anything. I mean, according to it, Ripley is doing it great but that doesn’t reflect on Netflix charts. Now popularity charts about future series surely are much more inaccurate. I just found odd that some of the series there looked even more obscure than Eric! lol And the numbers they were writing were so big (in the 10,000s) so I wanted to know which was Eric number: Was it on the line? Was it really that bad? Then I saw it was 1,200! That’s not bad! They were saying that Jamie Dorman series was 15,777 (probably they are quoting the list that includes films.). Of course, Eric is stronger than that!
