TIFF sent an email today with some instructions and reminders about the film festival. What on earth is a Fan Zone?? So now I can’t just show up and try to see any celebrities arriving? The last time I was there, it was during Covid, so they didn’t have any celebrities arriving at all.
The film festival doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, so I’ll be curious to see if anyone famous is there, and what this fan zone looks like.

I phoned TIFF today to ask about the fan zone thing they emailed about. The guy told me he has worked there for years and they’ve always had it. But he also said that anyone can still show up and wait around and hope to see the celebrities arrive, like I’ve always done.
The fan zone just guarantees that you get an unobstructed view and that the celebrities will stop for you to get photos or autographs. It just doesn’t make sense to me to arrive at the theatre three hours before the movie starts in the hopes of getting the wrist band for the fan zone.
I will take my chances and just show up as I had planned to do, like I did any other time I’ve gone.
The guy also mentioned several times that they don’t know which celebrities - if any - will show up because of the strike. The movies they’re showing yesterday and today have been only for the press and media. The movies for public audiences start tomorrow, I think.
