And speaking of GG, I recently and for the first time watched her Little Women and was not impressed. Other than a non-linear timeline I didn’t find anything new in it, and poor Timmy was out of his depth. I much prefer the 1995 version although I have a hard time watching that one because I end up ugly crying with snot and everything when Beth dies. And Christian Bale as Laurie was so good. He actually acted with all the yearning, frustration, dissipation, and redemption that character experienced. That version had a real emotional punch to it which, imo, was lacking in GG’s version.
I have similar complaints about the 1995 version of Pride & Prejudice compared to the 2005 version with Kiera and Matthew MacFayden (whom I have adored for years). But really, the Bennet family were not peasant farmers, they were poorish but genteel, and to show Elizabeth Bennet wandering barefoot in pig muck and traipsing around the countryside in her night clothes was way too much for me, lol.

I didn't watch the 2005 version so I googled "Elizabeth Bennet wandering barefoot" and the top article says: If you don't mind that one of their reasons isthat Matthew is not sufficiently good looking here's the link.

I think somewhere in the basement is a can of old paint. I'd rather open that up and watch it dry up completely than watch the Barbie movie.
Not my cup of tea. And besides - I detest the colour pink!

After asking how old they were I left reddit and then I realised that subreddit must be about the dolls. Haha *chortle*

Well, there was a war on twitter over an article on The Guardian from a guy which I had blocked about GG, Barbie, Mattel and selling out. Someone I follow posted some screenshots of an exchange between Richard Brody and Amy Taubin and I had to unblock this guy to see what it was about. The original tweet:
You have to read replies and quotes. It's entertaining.
Apparently this is true.
Gossip!
Mattel meanwhile making money.
Something you can say about GG is that she has some passionate admirers. And Barbie is the real event of this season.
I had read two reviews of the movie, one praising some aspects but critisizing others, and another one very, very positive. Both make Barbie very interesting.

I’m just hoping it’s as overly woke and man hating as some folks are saying. 😂👍🏼

The more scenes I see of it, the worse it looks to me. It’s probably just me, though, because I can’t watch anything so busy and chaotic-looking. That’s probably why I never got into video games. I saw GG being interviewed, and she talks about the movie like it’s amazing.
Our local tv news tonight had a reporter live at a theatre interviewing little girls who had just watched the movie. They ranged in age 4-7 maybe. They agreed that it was the best movie they’d ever seen! The girls’ fathers were laughing, saying it was a lot better than they expected it to be. (Those dads were then on their way to see Oppenheimer). The reporter then reminded us that although it looks like Barbie is intended for little kids, it’s actually rated PG-13 for some intense/scary parts.

I saw the Brody/Taubin interaction. I thought it was hysterical!
I don’t doubt it’s a good movie but what it’s perplexing it’s indeed trying to ignore that there’s a huge toys company behind it and presents it like just an artistic endeavor, a political deep film, the film that will save real filmmaking or something like that! Some of these folks are the same people who hate Marvel but somehow now the Barbie movie represents Scorsese side now! Lol
