I can't picture Sherlock without Una. Am I alone in that? No you are not. In fact so many people so want a 5th season of Sherlock. But what would that look like? Benedict is older (and more stunning I might add) now. It's something to dream about, but I wonder how much the show would have to change to accommodate that.

I can see the show without Una. Mrs. Turner (Mrs. Hudson’s friend who has married ones), can take over as not the landlady who bought the flats after Mrs. Hudson died and off we go. Only she doesn’t put up with Sherlock’s nonsense like Mrs. Hudson did. Oh, and Sherlock and Molly both live in 221b because they’re dating now. 😍😈

In my imagination I picture Sherlock, older, no longer primarily based at 221b. Maybe pausing to spend time outside of London engrossed in other pursuits - the mystery of pollinator (bee, bat) colony collapse perhaps? But then a compelling new case draws him back to London and Sherlock returns to Baker Street where he, and we, feel the ache of Mrs Hudson’s absence. But could this new mystery hold the key to his questions about bees and the puzzle of their dramatic and seemingly worldwide decline? And are Dr Watson, and his brother, purposely avoiding him? Or have they simply found other things to occupy their attention while he was following pollinator developments and his nose in the Wiltshire countryside. And what of the unidentified body baffling the new pathologist at St Bart’s, the one with possible ties to the dirty business of black market plant poachers and high stakes collectors and traders? And with with traces of dirt, pollen and spores from the Avon watershed that echo those found far away on the slate strewn landscapes of north west Wales? Is new Executive Director of Pathology Molly Hooper aiding Sherlock with inside information… or hiding something from him?

Fabulous, Hannah Lee! You should write this up, we’ll crowd fund it and next time BC is on hiatus for FOREVER (like now), we’ll have it all ready to go! Hey kids, let’s put on a show! 😂

I think Sherlock isn't coming back and not because of Una. Imo the show was doomed since they introduced Mary as the fabulous killer (who tried to murder Sherlock and forgiven so easily), then the baby, killing Mary, introducing Sherlock's sister. What are they supposed to do with John's daughter and Sherlock's sister? Ignore everything and just go with Sherlock and John? I also think that relationship was hurt on the last season and it is impossible to return to what it was. Also the actors are older as cumbertiff mentioned. I don't see BC or Martin returning to a Sherlock series.

In my view Sherlock was a wonderful thing that is best left as a lovely memory. By the end of the run it was beginning to unravel (I hated the Mary & Euros plots) by moving too far away from what made it special - i.e keeping the focus on Sherlock & John working together to solve quirky mysteries. So I think bringing it back would be wrong.

They absolutely can bring back the show if they want!
They went years without showing us Sherlock’s parents, so I’m certain we can go years without seeing Eurus again. We’ve also never seen John’s sister, who has been mentioned, or Lestrade’s wife. John’s school-aged daughter is obviously away at boarding school now, where she’ll be until she’s 18, and then she’ll be off to university.
Don’t forget that not every episode covered a long period of time! A year went by in A Scandal in Belgravia, but A Study in Pink took one day. So it is possible to tell a Sherlock story that doesn’t involve every character’s extended family.

I'm of the school that prefers Sherlock to be enjoyed as a great memory.
Maybe, sometime in the future, a "one off" special could be done, but if it never happens I'm OK with that.
I liked ALL the episodes equally (I actually enjoyed the Mary and Eurus plots) and don't think the absence of Mrs. Hudson couldn't be covered in a lovely short tribute woven into the plot.
But I think the two essential actors (BC and MF) have successfully moved on in their careers, so going back to Sherlock could be viewed as regressive IMO.
And frankly, why would all the "creatives" (writers, actors etc) want to open themselves up to the complete shitshow that happened when Season 4 ended!
Do you think TJLC types would stay silent? After the extreme measures they took to harass and insult "Motiss" (and others) publicly - even going as far as trying to get them fired for supposed "queerbaiting", or kicked off of charities! Ugh!
And for the actors... all this bullshit of "Freebatch" and "Johnlock" I truly believe was the genesis of the all the Sophie hate that morphed into the "Septics".
Just move on, trying new challenges, expanding horizons, not trying to recapture what was. That's an exercise in futility IMO.

I agree that the Sophie hate can be directly traced back to those stupid Johnlockers.
And I am more than happy to look back at Sherlock as a fond memory . . . when it ends! I just don’t feel like it’s over.
TV seems to be bringing back lots of old shows that weren’t even that good the first time, so surely a show as good as Sherlock deserves a chance! And anyway, they wouldn’t be bringing it back - they would just be continuing it with the two stars as a middle-aged men, like ACD wrote them. That’s what Mofftiss always said they’d do. And of course I would only want it if the story was great!
