Ha! At least we have those nice photos to tide us over until he makes another appearance. I also loved that little red-carpet interview where he pretty much gave his thank-you speech. It was long and rambling - oh, how I've missed him!
Of course I'm disappointed he didn't win - he should win everything, every time. But I still think he should first be honoured for Sherlock. It's long overdue. It's the most streamed Netflix show in the world, and it's because of him!!

So for next year, can he be nominated for Sherlock? The Lying Detective? I can't imagine any Sherlock performance to be more likely for a BAFTA win.
ps. I'm very happy for the iguana, too. That was an amazing performance and an incredible bit of footage.

I suspect he has more possibilities with The Child in Time and Melrose than The Lying Detective. I mean the episode was great and he was wonderful but the complete series had a mixed reception and if he wasn't awarded when Sherlock was the It thing I doubt he would be awarded now.
Both The Child in Time and Melrose are about difficult, sordid and very painful issues without mention that at least in part, in the case of Melrose, they aren't period pieces. If they are well made and considering he is a BAFTA favorite (yes, he doesn't have a win but the multiple nominations aren't gratuitous) he could win at least another nomination.

This is an interesting tweet from Virgin Media. Aren't they the ones running the awards?

I saw similar tweets by the BBC. It's just a joke but considering they are official accounts it's a little unfair to the winner and maybe BC himself! I would be embarrassed if I were him!

I see what you mean! I found these tweets from BBC One and BAFTA. Poor Benedict looks so tired in the last one!

I think he said in one interview that he slept just 4 hours.
I guess he is finishing The Child in Time so I guess he will go directly to do his part in Marvel's Infinity and then Melrose in July-August. And probably Rio at the beginning of next year. So he is still working non-stop.
