Yes, it's not sure. It's just them advertising that they have the dates and locations for subscribers. We will see.

This sounds interesting, so of course I had to buy the book. I'll be posting some spoilers once I figure out how to hide them. I did read the post on how to do that, but I'm having trouble.

This seems like an intriguing project for him! I haven´t read the book, but it sounds quite heartbreaking.

Has anyone else read The Child in Time? I would love to know what you think. I have mixed feelings about it myself. A good adaptation will certainly provide Benedict with a very dramatic, emotional, complex role. Yes, there will be copious weeping. (I can't imagine that this is a spoiler ...no weeping would be more of a spoiler). I think the wife is under written, but two supporting characters, the best friend and his wife, are central to the story and could be real showpieces for the right actors. I can't wait to hear about that casting. {Spoiler}
There are some sex scenes that are central to the story, too. I admit, one of them made me scratch my head. Maybe they'll leave it out.

There are some sex scenes that are central to the story, too. I admit, one of them made me scratch my head. Maybe they'll leave it out. I haven't read it, and have no intention of reading it. I'm a bit in two minds about even watching the film when it comes out because I am wimpish enough to really not like seeing people in distress, even in fictional distress if it's aping real life. It might be a role that BC will relish for the acting opportunity, but that wouldn't affect my wanting to avoid it. So a necessary query with obvious spoiler: Having your child disappear is a nightmare scenario! From what little I've read about the book, the scene when that happens is very shocking and upsetting and I just wouldn't choose to either read or watch something like that. It's not a premise that appeals at all. There's enough horror in real life life without adding to it. I don't mind a little bit of emotional trauma, and I can always walk out of the room for a judicious 5 minutes, but I have already gathered that the story is about having to grow up and come to terms with what has to be come to terms with. It isn't about getting the child back. The big question for me is whether the ending is optimistic and/or reasonably upbeat or if one is expected to empathise with the trauma and then be left miserable at the end as well. Or is that too simplistic? But I would like to know the tone at the end. So would you mind just clarifying if it is a reasonably upbeat ending or not?

It has a very happy ending, but I don't want to be misleading. The ending does not directly involve the lost child. There are also other terrible tragedies involving other people. I actually found the kidnapping that starts the book to be completely unbelievable - so unbelievable that I question whether it was even intended to be taken as something that really happened. The logistics, as described are simply not possible. I know that children are kidnapped from public places, but not like this. There are some fantastical elements throughout the book. Confusing.

I just got my copy. I can't wait to read it. I was a some kind of McEwan fan some years ago so it's my kind of stuff.
I plan to read it next week.

A few other "Industry" sites are announcing they have details about the production. UK casting is actually saying the shooting is in March:

I couldn't read anything at that website without subscribing. Does it say anything other than that it might be filming in March (which is exciting btw)?
