I don't know exactly what is this but Patrick Melrose is shortlisted for award.
I just looked at the other categories and The Child in Time is also shortlisted.
They are on February 6. Perhaps we'll see BC.

I will put it here because it’s just one nomination:
TBH I was reading the nominees lists and all I could think was PM is suffering the same destiny that the novels which it’s not so bad because they are considered a classic now but no awards for it because it’s not the right kind of story! In other words, the nominees are all very diverse and progressive: best actor, one gay and two black men (the three of them brilliant actors!). The mini-series category has one very polemic series that is actually being questioned by experts but right now it’s in general considered very progressive by the establishment media. It could actually get old very quickly in the next few years, tho. It’s clear that at least that nomination is a political statement. No way it’s about quality! So no place for a mini-series about an abused posh guy!

The Cry was bad imo. I don't know what Butterfly is about.
I watched Kiri and wasn't impressed by it. Lucien Masmati was just supporting. It is ridiculous.
The principal sponsors are the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Sky.
That's the criteria.

Butterfly is about transgender kids. It was criticized because it showed a kid self-harming herself. Some experts said that's not so common as some activists say is it and could be dangerous to claim it's. I also think the activist that inspired it is actually very controversial.
It's in general an extremely controversial and politicized theme. I'm not sure I want to talk about it! The activists can be very aggressive! The series itself was well received in some quarters and condemned in others but the positive reviews are more about how "important" is the theme. I think one positive review called it "a public information film" which I interpreted as it's nit something really artistic but IMPORTANT!!!!

We will see with the BAFTAS but I predicted since the begining that maybe both Hugh Grant and BC (the supposendly two frontrunners in the category that according to critics gave two of the best performances ever) could be actually being ignored because they are posh or worst... middle class guys who went to posh schools! Remember the crazy lady that predicted that BC would end dating prostitutes and hitting paparazzi because he as Grant were middle class actors who would never be completely accepted by really posh people and that caused internal conflicts or something! LOL
Anyway, this award did it! They ignored them for more diverse actors (and series).
