There are lots more tweets now from people angry that their beloved Jim Carrey version is being re-made. I wasn't thrilled when we first learned that Benedict was doing this, but that was because I was worried that audiences would think it was as bad as JC's movie and stay away!
There were some funny tweets, though, like this one:

He didn’t sounded like Sherlock AT ALL but I imagine there will be fools saying his Stephen from The Child in Time remind them to Sherlock!
Anyway we actually didn’t hear too much apart of a few short phrases and a lot of grunts.

I think they are exaggerating the reactions but that’s something very common on Twitter.
Illumination has a mediocre record with Dr. Seuss movies so I was waiting for a few negative reactions in that regard but I was genuinely surprised with people defending that awful movie with Jim Carrey. It’s almost hysterical! I guess that explains Millennials!!! 😉

Oh, ffs! Why is everything a contest? Why does there have to be “who’s better?” Why is everything judged even before it’s seen? Sooooooo tired of this. 😡

I remember reading a conversation sometime ago on Twitter in which two persons said Jude Law would had been a much better Patrick Melrose than BC and I remember I though how dumb you should be to compare a performance you haven’t watched with a performance that won’t be happen! But that’s social media: dumb opinions everywhere!
Most people aren’t actually saying BC is bad or that they hate him (just the usual few!). Most just think Jim Carrey is the one and only which again it’s crazy considering his movie is not even (interesting) bad but worse, mediocre and forgettable! LOL I wonder if they have watched it recently or if they have watched it in their adult life!
EDITED: the worst conversation I read was actually very complementary of BC’s work. They say he sounded different and clearly was a talented actor but such a shame he was so ugly. Then they went making fun of his face and how much they hated him because of it! I never did it before but I have a few months blocking all “mean girls” kind of comments. They don’t add anything to any conversation so I block them!

Yeah, I block, unfollow, and just plain don’t read the nasty comments, too. Its not that. It’s that I mourn critical thought, patience and perspective.

I go through waves of blocking people on Twitter. I just checked, and I currently have 1045 people blocked! I don't care if people have different opinions from my own, but some people are just out to be nasty and I don't ever want to see their tweets again.

I suppose it's because the people commenting about a Grinch movie are younger, and grew up with the Jim Carrey one. My kids didn't like it at all, but love the original (even if my youngest was a little scared of the Grinch.)
