I think he was out from this for some time.
I suppose Dominic West is not going to generate the same kind of polemic playing a gipsy (or whatever the pc noun is) than BC.
I never liked much this project.

I was only interested in this because it was so against type for BC, and I'm wishing for him to play another villainous character soon. But, much more excited about the other things he has going.

I was thinking the same about the polemic. We will see! But yes, I think a non-Tumblr actor would not provoke the same polemic! West isn’t a threat to the pseudo-activists faves. That’s what online activism is at the end of the day: a battle of fandoms!
I just read that Olivia Colman is also involve. She probably will play the aunt. She is in The Crown now and just won an Oscar so we will see....
EDITED: I checked Dominic West tag on Twitter and I saw 0 negative reactions to his casting. There aren't many tweets, tho. He is a wonderful actor but slightly less popular than BC. I have blocked a few crazies, too. It could be that one of them is screaming right now in the dark but in general it seems there is any problem with him playing a gypsy even when he is also white and, worst! he actually went to Eton!

To me, I feel it is too bad he isn't in this project any longer. I was looking forward to seeing him in it. It could have been a great role for him to tackle and I think he would have been great in it.
I definitely will still be interested in seeing this movie even though BC isn't involved in it any more. Dominic West is a great replacement for the role I think and if OC is in it too then that can only add to the quality not take away from it IMO.

I just remembered that a few days ago when that site (re)announced that Rio will be shoot in Rio do Janeiro and most Brazilian fans and sites were very happy on Twitter, one person actually was moaning about the way the film will surely present Brazilian men as "savages" and women as sex objects! They haven't even shoot it and no one knows exactly the plot because it's an original story but there is one person out there angry at the production for being politically incorrect! LOL They want we all living in burbles without any kind of contact to anyone slightly different to us! It's insane! EDITED: OMG! Maybe West hasn't been attacked because apparently there is another HUGE scandal in town,

Re Gypsy Boy, I can see Dominic West in the role. I’m really not a fan of Olivia Coleman though. I think she is humongously overrated.

Haha I was going to post about Dominic West being posher than BC. He not only went to Eton, he is married to a real aristocrat and they live part in London, part in a castle! Of course he says he's not. From an article of The Times, behind paywall, from 2015. Well they didn't sell it. From December 2018: I remember some criticism on his take on Jean Valjean in The Miserables because of the accent he chose. Here is a discussion: Is Dominic West the authentic voice of a working-class hero?By the way, one of the comments is: At least is not BC. Another comment is that, although he's from Sheffield, his father owned a factory.

West's direct family sounds "posher" than BC's but I guess it helps him that he is Northerner and looks more masculine.
BC is judged by his paternal's very old ancestors and his aristocratic looks. It seems to me that his mother comes from a working class family (it's complex to tell with the intricate British class system!) and ironically she was the most succesful actor of the two so probably most bills were paid by her. I think he once said that his paternal grandmother paid for a part of his school fees, tho.
